*Sales & Business Administration*
Vital perspectives
*1. It teaches you how money actually works*
1. *Sales* = bringing money in. Every business, church, NGO, hospital needs income. If you can’t sell an idea, product, or service, you stall.
2. *Business Admin* = keeping the money. Budgeting, tracking expenses, legal compliance. Most people are good at earning but terrible at managing.
3. *Result*: You stop living hand-to-mouth because you understand profit, cash flow, and pricing.
*2. It makes you employable in ANY industry*
Every organization has 2 core functions: _make money_ + _manage money_. That’s sales + admin.
Industry Sales role Admin role
Hospital Patient services, private ward marketing Records, HR, procurement, billing
Construction Quoting clients, winning tenders Site management, payroll, compliance
Church/NGO Fundraising, donor relations Project reporting, grants, logistics
Government N/A, but... All ministries run on admin – budgets, staff, audits
So a Business Admin cert + sales skills = you fit in 80% of jobs.
*3. It gives you control vs depending on a boss*
1. *Start your own thing*: 9/10 businesses fail from poor admin + weak sales. Study these and you beat the odds.
2. *Negotiate better*: Salary, rent, loan terms, bride price – all sales negotiations. Admin skills mean you read contracts before signing.
3. *Survive shocks*: Job loss, inflation, currency crash. People with business skills pivot faster – they know how to cut costs, find new markets.
*4. Core life skills you get*
1. *Decision-making*: Data + budgets beat “feelings” when choosing what to do
2. *People skills*: Staff, customers, suppliers, ZRA officers – you learn to manage all
3. *Legal awareness*: PACRA, NAPSA, ZRA, council. Avoid fines/jail because you know basic compliance
4. *Time + resource planning*: Stop wasting money on dead stock, failed projects, or bad debt
*5. Zambia/Africa context*
1. *Jobs won’t come to you*: 300,000 youths enter job market yearly,
