Mwewa Mwape, Graduate Bsc. Environmental Health with distinction.
Born and raised in the tourist capital of Zambia, Livingstone.
I did my primary school at Dambwa primary and secondary at St. Raphael's secondary school.
I didn't have a specific field of study I wanted to persue when I complete my grade twelve. I was interested in many fields of study due to my curiosity. I was passionate about fields that deal with Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physic.
It was until early 2018 when I saw and indirectly experienced the effects of cholera on the community around, families and the economy that I started thinking seriously about what field of study I should persue to prevent such diseases. The following year COVID-19 started. That fueled my passion to even think critically about what field of study would be effective to equip me with the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent such diseases and minimize their effect on the public. The field that came to mind was no other than the field of Public Health.
That's how my passion for disease prevention started.
