About Beat Obesity UAE

Our mission is to educate, support and inspire the way people eat, move, and live! Beat Obesity UAE is a conversation about health. We hope to give you the tips, tools and ideas to make your life better and to be mindful of your own energy balance. Karen Hargreaves
As Founder of Beat Obesity UAE, Karen’s goal is to educate and inspire people in the UAE and beyond to underst

and what are the causes of obesity, obesity facts regionally and globally, how we can adjust our lives by making informed choices about how we treat our bodies to create a better life and environment. Karen has lived in the UAE for the past 18 years and noted that the subject of obesity was rising globally and wanted to understand the serious topic more, so after research discovered that a lack of energy balance most often causes overweight and obesity. Energy balance means that your energy IN equals your energy OUT. Energy IN is the amount of energy or calories you get from food and drinks. Energy OUT is the amount of energy your body uses for things like breathing, digesting, and being physically active. To maintain a healthy weight, your energy IN and OUT doesn’t have to balance exactly every day. It’s the balance over time that helps you maintain a healthy weight. So the Beat Obesity UAE site was born to act as a community that you can visit to understand the subject more so everyone including individuals, children, adults, employers and employees can GET HEALTHY, GET ACTIVE, GET LIVING and BEAT OBESITY.
