How do future business leaders learn to solve real-world challenges? By stepping into them.
From 10–15 May 2026, Modul University Vienna Master’s students Gaia Giorgi, Samaira Hassan, Tamás Bencsik, and Cara Ritthammer took part in the inaugural Adam Smith Business School Case Competition in Glasgow, hosted by the University of Glasgow.
Led by MU University Lecturer Eva Aileen Jungwirth-Edelmann, the team joined students from around the world for a week of business challenges, industry exposure, networking, and cultural exchange. Across three case heats, teams worked on real cases connected to the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, Auchentoshan Single Malt Scotch Whisky, and the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Each round introduced a different format, from short pitch-style presentations to longer case presentations followed by Q&A sessions in front of jury panels featuring senior representatives from the case companies. This gave students the opportunity to apply strategic thinking, market analysis, stakeholder understanding, teamwork, and presentation skills under real time pressure.
Beyond the competition itself, the week also included networking events, an industry visit, a welcome reception, and a Scottish ceilidh, creating a learning experience that combined academic case work with industry insight and international connection.
We are proud to see our Master’s students representing Modul University Vienna in this global setting and engaging with the kind of real-world business challenges that prepare them for leadership beyond the classroom.
