How were you greeted, trained and welcomed by the company?
"I was welcomed very well by the Siemens team in Amadora. I had a local contact person and colleagues who supported me whenever I had questions. At the beginning, I received an introduction to the local team, working environment and relevant tasks. Since I already worked for Siemens in Austria, I was familiar with many internal processes and tools, which made the onboarding easier."

What new skills and qualities have you acquired?

"I’d already completed an Erasmus semester during my bachelor’s program, so not much has “improved” in that regard.
The great thing about a semester abroad is that you’re thrown into a completely new situation in a random place. It sounds overwhelming, but it actually allows you to be very “yourself.” I’ve further developed that “quality.”

How did you find your internship in Sweden? How did you apply for it? How did you prepare for your stay abroad?

"I came across the company on LinkedIn. I was particularly drawn to the electric vehicle manufacturing division, as I saw an opportunity there to combine data science with environmental science. I contacted company employees directly through their profiles and presented them with a specific proposal for my master’s thesis topic—in the area of predictive maintenance and the analysis of manufacturing data."

"Personally, I started the course with a little apprehension. After all, English is my third language and therefore also my weakest. However, my initial concerns disappeared after the very first lesson. The classes were by no means stressful grammar lessons; instead, they focused mainly on interactive discussions and a wide variety of exercises. In a fun and engaging way, we were introduced to new methods that we can also incorporate into our own teaching. By the end of the week, I therefore returned home not only with improved English skills, but also with many new ideas for my work." 💚
