South Australian Society of Economic Geologists - SASEG

South Australian Society of Economic Geologists - SASEG "To Advance Science & Discovery" in Economic Geology Our Faculty Advisor is Associate Professor Nigel Cook from Adelaide University.

The Adelaide University Society of Economic Geologist Student Chapter (AUSEG) was established in August 2013 by Geology student Jesse Clark in collaboration with the SEG and The University of Adelaide. The primary focus of the student body is to advance understanding, excellence and interest in the field of Economic Geology. We achieve this by organising events such as field trips, both local and

international, in World-class mineral districts; lectures and seminars/short courses hosted by internationally recognised Professionals within the field. Between such events we organise various social and fundraising events to continue our efforts in advancing geological knowledge in Economic Geology. We are actively seeking sponsorship from companies and organisations to also aid our efforts.Committee meetings are held fortnightly to discuss future and present activities organised by the AUSEG Student Chapter. Our 2013 committee consists of four students acting as President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary comprising the Executive Committee; with the remainder of the committee consisting of twelve enthusiastic students. Our committee includes first, second and thrid year Undergraduate students and one postgraduate PhD student. Our Industry Advisors are Geoff Johnson of Arrium Mining and Professor Peter Laznicka, founder of Data Metallogenica and Independant Consultant.

I am super excited to announce, on behalf of the South Australian Society of Economic Geologists (SASEG), that we will be hosting a Geology Bake-Off on Friday the 7th of June.

We will start off with a lunch at 12pm in the Sprigg Room while we set up everyone’s geology-themed treats⛏️🍰

Entry and lunch + beverages will be free!

Everyone is invited to (but not obliged to) make a geology-themed treat to be judged by a panel of representatives, with some super cool prizes up for grabs!

This is our second time running this event to celebrate diversity in mining, no matter your gender, race, background, we want you to feel welcome and loved in our industry.

Baked goods may be tasted for a gold coin donation and the funds raised will go towards our Field Equipment Fund which is used to buy field equipment for students who need it most.

This event is my personal favourite, I love to bake and see how creative our future industry representatives are! It’s also a great one for networking, especially with so many students looking for graduate roles and vacation program positions!

We hope to see you there!
