Australian Standards for specimen collection have been updated:
HLTPAT005 has been superseded by the current unit, HLTPAT010.

For Safety, Compliance and HR leaders, this change matters. Using collectors trained to an outdated unit can increase audit pressure and create uncertainty around testing procedures and documentation.

HLTPAT010 Collect Specimens for Drugs of Abuse Testing reflects current Australian Standards and industry expectations. Upon successful completion, individuals are recognised as a competent collector under Australian Standards for the collection of:
✅ Breath alcohol samples (breathalyser)
✅ Oral fluid samples (e.g. oral swab)
✅ Urine samples (e.g. urine test cup)
