Flinders University

Flinders University A leading international university in Australia. CRICOS: 00114A

Flinders University was founded in an era of profound social, political and technological change, when longstanding conventions were being challenged by a new generation of ambitious young thinkers. A product of these times, we have always been ready to step away from the security of the familiar and forge new ways forward. From the ambition of our namesake, to the charge of our founding Vice Chan

cellor, this appetite for exploration is ingrained in our DNA. It has shaped our world-class curriculum, and the physical and online environments we live, learn and work in. Vibrant spaces enable new connections between academics, students and industry, giving rise to innovative, agile hubs that can quickly adapt to new challenges and opportunities.

After spending more than 10 years supporting students with visual impairments in Taiwan, Jessica travelled to Australia to experience how another country approaches inclusive education.

As a visually impaired student herself, she began her journey at Flinders University Academy, completing the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program before progressing into a Master of Individual and Specialised Education at Flinders University.

What she experienced went beyond academic preparation. From Academy staff taking the time to learn how to best support her before she even arrived on campus, to receiving a graduation certificate in Braille, it was the thoughtful moments that made all the difference.

"It wasn't really about the braille itself... It was knowing that they truly saw me, and made the effort because they understood what I needed."

Taking Off-Campus learning to a whole new level 🏒⛸️

Flinders Sports Management students are working with Adelaide Adrenaline Ice Hockey Club - SA’s professional ice hockey team, to develop marketing initiatives in response to a real-world industry brief.

Students visited the IceArenA for a briefing with Adelaide Adrenaline General Manager Jamie, followed by an on-ice experience designed to immerse them in the sport, its environment and audiences.

The experience allowed students to connect directly with industry, build practical skills and apply their learning to a live marketing challenge. 🙌

"Growing up, I didn't know any Aboriginal doctors."
Third-year medical student Aaron Gordon reflects on his pathway to make a change. 🤝

Aaron joined us at the Flinders NT Medical Career Expo at Royal Darwin Hospital in June, hosted by Flinders University NT Regional Training Hub. His story, featured in National Indigenous Times by Nicole Brown is a reminder of why representation in medicine matters.

We're proud to support pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students into healthcare.
