Bookings are now open!

First Listen is a two-day workshop in Melbourne on Friday 2 October and Saturday 3 October involving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders and Indigenous and non-Indigenous theologians, ministers and community members. It will use Indigenous methods of deep listening and cyclical conversation (especially storying and yarning), with subsequent reflections.

Students, liturgical practitioners, and all interested are welcome to be part of this occasion sponsored by the University of Divinity with the support of ARTFinc.

The workshop will be followed by a 12-month program of community engagement, including publications, webinars and community gatherings designed to extend the workshops and foster ongoing collaboration.

The First Listen on 2-3 October is a workshop with Elders and all interested to use Indigenous methods of deep listening and cyclical conversation (storying and yarning) on decolonising liturgy.

The Australian Lutheran College 2026 Fritzsche Oration will be ‘Unearthing the Treasures: Insights into the development and professionalisation of the Lutheran Lohe Library Collection’.

Librarian Trevor Schaefer, Dr Wendy Mayer and Dr Pam Zweck will speak to different aspects of the library’s history, and what the collection offers students and researchers in theology and church history.

Held onsite at the ALC Library in its current home at 1/22 Pulteney St, Adelaide, attendees are invited to browse the collection before and after the oration and appreciate the diversity of resources the library holds.

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Rev Dr Simon Carey Holt, who died on Tuesday evening, 25 August 2026. Simon served on the Faculty of Whitley College for more than 10 years as Senior Lecturer in Spirituality and Practical Theology, before leaving in 2010 to become Senior Pastor at Collins Street Baptist Church in the Melbourne CBD. His contribution to Whitley, the University, and to the wider church has been significant. He will be deeply missed by so many whose lives were shaped by his teaching, ministry and friendship.
