We are thrilled to share with you the results of our longitudinal research project into parent engagement in education:

The landmark research project, which we affectionately call EPIC (it stands for Engaging Parents in Curriculum) has been operating in Queensland independent schools for three years and has delivered a raft of major findings which will benefit families and educators for years to come.

🌟It confirms that student learning and wellbeing is maximised when parents and teachers respect each other as partners in a child’s education.
🌟It has also found that while parents are time poor, parents of children at all ages still crave opportunities to value-add to their child’s education.
🌟It has shown effective parent engagement doesn't have to be laborious, for teachers or parents.

Thank you to EPIC project leaders Dr Linda Willis and Professor Beryl Exley from School of Education and Professional Studies, Griffith University for their commitment to this landmark project.

Congratulations to our remarkable alumni, supervising teachers and site coordinators who have been shortlisted for a TEACHX Award this year! We are so honoured our students benefit from the guidance of educators of your calibre during the pivotal practical phase of their education.

The TEACHX Awards celebrate the outstanding contributions of teachers in Queensland.

Every year, teachers from across Queensland's schooling sectors and early childhood education and care services are nominated to share their stories and inspire colleagues.

The Queensland College of Teachers is proud to give a voice to these stories and to shine a spotlight on the extraordinary work being done by these remarkable individuals within the profession.

Commencing in 2009, these awards exemplify the significant contribution to schools and early childhood communities across Queensland, attracting thousands of nominations for registered teachers who have achieved exceptional outcomes.

To be nominated for a TEACHX Award is an achievement in itself. Winning a TEACHX category signifies teaching quality and dedication, and is a mark of distinction.

FREE HYBRID EVENT | We are proud to host the 8th annual Initial Teacher Education (ITE) Creating Futures Summit Series. We invite you to have conversations that matter to teaching and teacher education.

Transforming InDigenous Education in practice
On, From, With and In Country, flowing with the TIDE

Tuesday 13 June, 8.15am to 3.00pm
Hilton Hotel, Brisbane

Event Description
The 2023 summit conversation begins on Country, with the understanding that jagun (Country) holds its own narrative and is an active participant in our conversation.

If the work of educators and schooling are to further improve on our efforts to embed Indigenous knowledges and work with Indigenous communities, this will require exploring uncomfortable conversations and reflecting on unconscious biases, with a view to achieving Indigenous student success both now and future.

Our next step is action, garulbo (partner together) in: co-design, co-research, and co-community partnership; to encourage, embrace, respect, and give time to understand the hyperlocal complexity of knowledges; and learn from schools where educators and communities are demonstrating co-practice of Indigenous Education.

Consequently, and collectively, we will no longer fear the pan-Indigenising of curriculum content and the out of field teaching obligation, or unwittingly participate in the action of culturally taxing Indigenous co-workers with ‘doing’ the ‘work’ for us (knowledge and service). Rather, we will flow with the TIDE and participate in Jarara mobobo, a pedagogy of Country for today and tomorrow, to transform Indigenous education in practice.
