Purpose of the research? The purpose of this research project is to identify to what extent Turkish migrants and second generation Turkish-Australians, living in Australia, are following a traditional diet and lifestyle, and to determine what factors i

nfluence this. Who are we looking for? Turkish-Australians, aged eighteen years and over, who were born in Turkey, or have a parent or parents who were born in Turkey. What will you be asked to do? You will be asked to complete one questionnaire that will take approximately 25 minutes to complete. Benefits of the research? The importance of understanding influences on food choice is significant to promoting better health since diet is a major risk factor for many common population health problems, including heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and obesity. The importance of how resilient migrants are to certain host country/regional foods is important. The project is aimed at gaining information about the food pathways people take when they arrive in another region/country. The results of the research will be communicated through written articles, presentations at conferences, and research reports/thesis. Any enquiries you may have concerning this project should be directed to:

Hey Facebook friends, have you ever wondered where the beautiful breakfast tray in my profile picture comes from? It’s from a village just outside Hatay in Southeast Türkiye. Did you know that the earthquakes of 2023 has left hundreds of thousands of people in the region homeless? Inspired by the flavours of Turkey, and the produce available at markets in Istanbul, this side salad is the perfect accompaniment to many dishes.

Recipe from SBS Food
