Meisner with Rob Horton - Master Teacher

7 Hour Meisner Technique Outline Saturday April 6th 2024 BYRON BAY FILM & TELEVISIONS SCHOOL
$495

16+ age group

Meisner Technique is one of the world’s most popular methods of training professional actors. It creates compelling and dynamic screen performances. The technique’s founder Sanford Meisner came from the same Group of creative artists that gave rise to some of America’s greatest acting teachers of the twentieth century; Stella Adler, Lee Strasberg, Bobby Lewis, Harold Clurman et al. The Meisner Technique is comprised of several exercises; each exercise building expertise from the previous one. ROB HORTON - TEACHER "I'm delighted to write this letter of recommendation for Mr. Rob Horton as a teacher of the Meisner Techniques for actors I've known Mr. Horton for the past three years and as a 40-year teacher of the work who studied with Sanford Meisner I believe I'm particularly well situated to offer a point of view on Mr. Horton's talents. There are as many types of acting teachers as there are methodologies in the work, and Mr. Horton is a clear-minded and incisive student of the craft of the actor, a skilled practitioner of the craft of the teacher, and man filled with humanity and kindness. All of these qualities combine to mark him as a master teacher. I first met Mr. Horton in a workshop I was leading in Brisbane. He was a passionate and engaged member of the class, soaking up the material and offering both penetrating questions and clear commentary on the work he was doing. His experience was clearly broad and deep, but his understanding of the techniques I was teaching meant that he was already well-aware of and intuitively responding to the specifics of the Meisner Techniques. Rob and I have had a number of conversations about the craft of the teacher, most directly as it relates to the ways a good acting teacher supports and develops his students in the thorny field of actor training. The actor experiences enormous anxieties when doing their work, and Rob's kind and encouraging manner is an extraordinary asset to the rapid and in-depth progress one hopes for when leading a class. Finally, Rob's wholeness as a person and his broad experience as a theatre-maker combine to place him in the very top level of my profession I'm delighted to recommend Mr. Rob Horton as a Master Teacher of the techniques of Sanford Meisner, and urge you to give his work sincere consideration sincerely Scott Williams Artistic Director IMPULSE /Meisner London
