South Asia Research Institute is based at the Research School of Asia and the Pacific at the Australian National University. Our aim is to support research on South Asia and promote links and collaborative projects focussing on the countries of South Asia (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka). SARI is committed to advancing an interdisciplinary approach
across the social sciences, and in particular, in the fields of history, culture and society of the region. The aim of SARI is to bring together on a common platform people with expertise in South Asia across diverse disciplinary background at the ANU. These include history, anthropology, linguistics, cultural studies, human geography, comparative literature, economics, political science, international relations, development studies and languages.
