Nungalinya is a Combined Churches Training College for Indigenous Australians. The College is situated in Casuarina, a northern suburb of Darwin, Australia's gateway city of the North.

'Nungalinya' is an Aboriginal word used by the local Larrakia people, whose land includes the Darwin area. The word refers to Old Man Rock, a reef lying off Casuarina Beach, which can be seen at low tide, that was

a place of learning for the young men. The Larrakia people themselves suggested that the College use that name reflecting its identity as a place of learning and also the biblical idea of the “rock” of Christ as the foundation for our lives. We acknowledge the traditional ownership of the Larrakia people over the land on which our campus is built

At Nungalinya College we train men and women for leadership roles in churches and communities, and in exploring the Bible and Christian faith contextually. We train family members to make sense of the wider community and to learn its ways, so as to participate healthily in holistic community life while celebrating and strengthening Indigenous identity. What a night! It was wonderful to be joined by so many from the Darwin community to celebrate the premiere of the Spirit of Reconciliation documentary, during National Reconciliation week. Our classes were all excited to share an item before the screening of the film and to continue sharing after the movie finished.

There were many comments on the impactful nature of the documentary and the power of hearing the gospel from Aboriginal perpsectives.

If you haven't watched it yet, it's worth 65 minutes of your time! You can find links to watch the documentary on YouTube or download it on our website.

Are you excited about The Spirit of Reconciliation!? You can watch it wherever you are!

The Spirit of Reconciliation documentary was made over the last 12 months by Nungalinya College and is based on one important question asked to 14 Aboriginal Christian leaders from 8 different communities: ‘What would you like us to know about reconciliation?’ Through their stories, wisdom, and lived experiences of the truth of the gospel, the film explores the power of Jesus to bring reconciliation, healing, and unity.

From 8pm AEST on 29th May, the full documentary will be available to watch on our YouTube channel, and will be able to be downloaded from our website on this page: https://www.nungalinya.edu.au/the-spirit-of-reconciliation

The film is free to watch and share, in order to make it as accessible as possible to all. (Creative Commons License: CC BY-NC-ND). Please send us a message if you have questions of need further information.

The Children's Ministry students hosted a fantastic chapel with a performance of the story of David and Goliath. A very cheeky Goliath had everyone in stitches.

Students create and practice these presentations not just for our chapel, but so they can take it back to their communities to reenact with their own congregations. This performance was created as part of the Children's Ministry course but we think it was such a hit with an adult audience everyone will be joining in back home.
