This International Literacy Day, we’re celebrating the many ways literacy helps people connect, learn and participate in the world around them.

At Bank of us, we believe financial literacy is an important part of that picture. That’s why we support programs and initiatives that help Tasmanians build skills and confidence from an early age.

From Big Plans, our award-winning, interactive game helping young children develop money skills, to our support of the West Coast Financial Literacy Project , we’re helping make financial education more accessible for Tasmanians.

We’re also proud to support 26Ten - Tasmania's campaign for adult literacy, helping Tasmanians build literacy and numeracy skills, and partner with Children's University Australasia to encourage children to stay curious, keep learning and discover new possibilities.

Because literacy is about more than reading and writing. It’s about having the skills and confidence to understand information, ask questions, make decisions and plan for what comes next.

Some of the best money advice starts with Dad.

“Save a little from every pay.”

“Don’t buy something just because it’s on sale.”

“If you can’t afford it, you probably don’t need it.”

“Always have a bit tucked away for a rainy day.”

Whether it came from your dad, grandad, stepdad or another father figure, chances are you’ve picked up a few money lessons along the way.

This Father’s Day, we’re celebrating the advice that sticks with us, long after we’ve grown up.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and father figures out there. ❤️

Being scammed once can make you a target for scammers again.

Investment recovery scams target people who have already lost money to a scam. Months later, you might be contacted by someone claiming they can recover the money you lost.

They may pretend to be from a company that specialises in recovering stolen funds. But these companies can be completely fake.

The scammer already knows you’ve lost money – and they’re using that information to try to take even more.

🚩 Someone contacts you unexpectedly about recovering lost money
🚩 They promise to get your money back
🚩 They ask you to pay a fee or make another payment first

Remember: if you’ve been scammed, be wary of anyone who promises they can recover your money for a fee.

If you think you’ve been targeted, Stop. Check. Protect.
