We have received some queries and feedback about whether the autistic community was engaged in the development of this study. Firstly, we thank those who have reached out.
Our team has been involved in autism and social communication research for over 15 years, and have engaged the autism community continuously over this time, including forming community reference groups for specific studies, in an effort to better understand their needs. We did not form a specific community reference group for this study, however, instead relying on the wealth of information we have garnered so far. We have taken the feedback on this issue on board, and will ensure the autism community is engaged in all individual studies in future. Our goal in this study is to better understand individual differences in the brain processes associated with social communication, so that the broader community can better understand and support those who might struggle with social communication.
If you have any concerns, please email us at [email protected]. We would be happy to discuss these with you.
