TGS Week SWOTVAC
==============
And with that, another semester of TGS activities has come to an end. The board games have been individually all tucked into bed, the polyhedral dice have been tucked in in sets because I'm being told too much of the budget was going towards beds. All of our DMs will soon be put into cryostasis, preserving them for next semester's D&D.

If you're already missing the weekly events (I know I am), then try out this ancient ritual that never fails:

1. Set up your favourite board game as if there were a standard amount of players with you

2. Play the game, rotating repeatedly around the table taking a turn for each set up player

3. Experience mixed pride and disappointment as you simultaneously win and lose the game

This ritual doesn't summon or do anything really, but it is a way to pass the time.

See you next semester! (Or maybe before...)

🎓DM Training Expression of Interest🐲
----------------------------------------------
When: Winter Break

Over the winter break we will be running DM training for anybody who wants to join the illustrious ranks of our TGS DMs and run sessions at our weekly events. This will involve being paired with an elder DM, running a couple sessions, and getting some feedback on each one.

If you would like to participate in DM Training, please fill out the form below ASAP! There's lots more info about how it will be run and what you need to do in the form, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask one of the committee members or Gorg. ---------------------------
When: 1st July, 6pm-11:30pm
Where: TBA

Together with a collection of other university's board game clubs, known as VIBE, we are putting on a very special event for you all. A mini announcement will be out soon with full details, but you can expect board games and RPGs that you love, as well as some special activities such as trivia and a murder mystery.

The event will be on Wednesday the 1st of July and will be paid with food provided. As this is a bigger event than usual TGS events, ticket prices will reflect this: look out for more details coming very soon.

❄TGS Over the Break 📅

When: TBA
Where: TGS Discord

If you find yourself missing TGS events over long breaks then I have fantastic news! Over the break, we will be running an online games night. Come along to play your favourite Jackbox games and maybe some of your most available online board games. The winner will receive the grand prize of a special role just for them.

More details will be released closer to when this ends up being held, so keep an eye on the Discord server.

TGS Week 12
=========
Guess Who it is! What, you haven't got a Cluedo? Are we not on the same Wavelength? Should we be using Codenames to identify eachother?

Let's get down to the Root of the problem. This is an absolute Betrayal at the House on the Hill. I'm here creating Modern Art for you, an Oracle, and yet you treat it and me like Junk Art. Frankly you're driving me Bananagrams.

I've been giving you a Love Letter, and now all I'm seeing is Red Flags. I thought I was Not Alone, like I'd found my Sky Team, but it feels like I've been cut through with a Scythe and driven into an Alien Frenzy.

I don't know how to navigate this Magic Maze. I think I'm just going to get a Ticket to Ride Europe to go see some Parks and Tiny Towns to clear my Skull.

📋Board Game Research Study 🎲
---------------------------------------
When: Weekdays and Weekends in May/June
Where: Parkville Campus

Board games give so much to us. They deliver on literally everything in the name. If you've ever wanted to say 'thank you, board games' and give something back, then now is your chance.

Here at the University of Melbourne, a group of researchers are conducting a study on how players imagine integrating digital elements into board games they already play. Anybody aged 18+ with a small group they play board games with at least once per month is welcome to attend a 3-hour workshop session with their group. Participants will be rewarded for their time, and receive light food and drinks at the workshop.

To sign up, or if you're looking for more information, check out the link to the survey, which has an email to contact with any questions.

🐲Weekly D&D🐲
----------------------
When: Thursday, 28th May, 12-5pm
Where: Market Hall (B189), Room 102

For the adventurous among you, Weekly D&D is once again running this Thursday. All are welcome to come be put to the test in worthy combat, intrigued by masterful storytelling, or become invested in vast exploration, all by our superb DMs. Please check the rpg-signup channel in the TGS discord for what quests are available this week.

Never played D&D before? No problem at all! Arrive any time after 12 and our experienced and friendly group of people will assist you in making a character and answer any and all questions that you may have.

To secure a spot in a game, please make sure that you arrive at room 102 in Market Hall before 2pm, as any later will mean that games will likely have started before you arrive. Our adventurers are still at level 8.

If you're a long-time adventurer and have enough gold to stack in one incredibly unstable pile, consider spending it in the magic-item-market channel in our discord. The carving on the door is NOT a puzzle, please stop trying to speak incantations at it.

👑Weekly Board Games👑
-------------------------------
When: Friday 29th May, 12pm-5pm
Where: Melbourne Connect, The Deck

Board games. The most fun you can have with a board and a game, but often so hard to find the time and people to play as much as you know you want to. Well no longer!

For the rest of the semester, board games will be running in The Deck area of the Melbourne Connect Superfloor. We will be running from the usual 12-5 (though we will be aiming to have the games packed away by 4:30). No matter what kind of game you prefer, or how knowledgeable you are, we have the game (and people!) for you.

Whether you're looking for new games and friends or want to bring your own (everyone is welcome!), we've got everything you need. If you have any questions feel free to message us on Discord or Instagram.

TGS Week 11
=========
Today is the day on the big creepy calendar in the PR Office marked as "THE END". I probably should have done something to prepare for this day, but I kept putting it off and well here we are.

Who's to say that it's even a bad thing? Maybe it's the end of something bad... Like war. Or lack of time to play board games. Though I fear that one from a practical standpoint may just mean the end of time, which I think is probably undesirable. Though being able to play board games forever is incredibly temping.

Let me venture deep down into the forgotten underground PR Labyrinth to consult the scrying pool at the centre for what this could mean. It's completely safe because all the monsters that were there forgot.

***

Ok it would seem.... that what is ending.... is... Oh I get it now it's-

TGS Week 9
========
Hello everybody! Putting the most important information in the announcement out the front here: due to a disruption in the board-game continuum, from this Friday until the end of the semester weekly board games will be held in Melbourne Connect instead of the Science Gallery (right next door!). We will be in The Deck area of the Superfloor, and we'll be posting a picture with some directions to our socials and Discord on the first day this Friday.

To account for the readjustment needed in our board game transporisoristors, and to make sure that we're keeping our quotas for board game energy released this semester, all games from this week will count for triple. If this is distressing to you, please know that this is perfectly safe, and no harm will come to you as long as you are practicing proper board game safety procedures and following all the rules of the game. There will be registered medics on standby in case any of you are hit with an errant blast of energy.

Have fun everybody, and see you there!

TGS Week 8
========
Apparently it is currently the time of a festival in Gorg's home dimension called "Aftalmi'ankorama". Or at least that's the closest approximation for an english-speaking human. Due to this, Gorg has been spending the past several days making preparations and decorating the office. There are several candles around the room burning a variety of colours, and several that don't appear to be burning but I'm told are just a colour that isn't visible to 3rd dimensional beings.

I came in this morning to what looked like a very delicious cake, but before I could even get the chance to consider having a slice, Gorg floated in and warned me that it was actually a friend of theirs from back home. I know that playing pranks and being mischievous is a big part of this festival so I'm not 100% sure they're telling the truth, but I am not willing to risk it. Not again.

Ok I can see Gorg consuming the cake now, so it must have been a prank. Or this is just a part of the festival. Either way I'm hungry.

TGS Week 7
========
According to this scrap of paper I found in the pocket of a random man who tried to assault me in a tavern, he was part of a secret society dedicated to resurrecting an elder god, and their plans and location were laid out in full with obvious weakpoints for me to exploit. Naturally, I had no reason to believe that this wasn't a trap and so I went home and forgot about it.

It is at this moment, as I am writing this announcement, that I am seeing a colossal shadowy figure slowly unfurl until it takes up the entire horizon. Perhaps that note wasn't a trap, and secretive cultists are indeed in the habit of laying out their entire plans in random notes that they keep on their person.

Thankfully I have this helpful ancient tome here with rituals to prevent against disasters just like this. Let's see here... De-cursing, de-hexing, de-lousing... ah, here we are! De-forbidden god..ing.

Looks like there's only 1 step.. "Finish the announcement". Oh. Well that's quite simple isn't it.

Board games. The most fun you can have with a board and a game, but often so hard to find the time and people to play as much as you know you want to. Well no longer!

As always, weekly board games will be running this Friday from 12-5 in the Science Gallery (though we will begin packing up around 4:30). No matter what kind of game you prefer, or how knowledgeable you are, we have the game (and people!) for you.

Whether you're looking for new games and friends or want to bring your own (everyone is welcome!), we've got everything you need. If you have any questions feel free to message us on Discord or Instagram.
