Massive congratulations to Dr Adrian Farrugia, who has just been awarded a $1,166,977 Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellowship project, aiming to develop an innovative approach that will reduce the harm related to young Australians’ drug use.

The project will explore the relationship between policy priorities and responses and young people’s own concerns and experiences of drug harms, with the aim of reducing drug-related harm among young people.

Reminder for the Private Lives 4 (PL4) survey!

PL4 is currently live and open to participants across Australia. The survey is open to all LGBTIQA+ adults (18+) living in Australia and takes around 30 minutes to complete.

They are wanting to ensure that Rainbow Mob are represented in the data, and that our experiences are captured. The last Private Lives Survey from 2020 was used to create a series of factsheets sharing national data about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTIQA+SB adults experiences for the first time.

If you have any concerns or questions please reach out to us and we can put you in contact with someone who can support you in taking part of this survey.

Your responses will help researchers and healthcare providers to better understand and support the experiences of trans and gender diverse young people, especially regarding gender-affirming care.

You do not have to be accessing (or want to access) gender-affirming medical care to participate.

Our staff member and recent graduate Dr Percy Gurtler recently co-authored a new resource through the @‌Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission (VEOHRC) based on research conducted at ARCSHS for their PhD.

This resource explores some of the many different ways conversion practices can look for LGBTIQA+ people, as well as exploring legal, cultural and practical aspects of conversion practices.
