Meet Dolly, a curious rescue cat with a fondness for bathtubs, and the inspiration behind a new children’s book helping RMIT students see the world.

RMIT Chancellor Peggy O’Neal AO wrote Dolly the Bathtub Cat to spark a love of reading in today’s children. Inspired by her own cat, named after Dolly Parton, the story follows a fiercely independent cat and the special friendship between a child and her feline companion. The book was illustrated by Louise Wills and created with RMIT’s Bowen Street Press.

All profits support the Saskia Loer Hansen Memorial Scholarship, set up in memory of a much-loved RMIT colleague to help students facing financial barriers gain international experience.

🔗 Dolly the Bathtub Cat is available now at the RMIT store.

What started as a friendship at RMIT has grown into 30 years of design, innovation and business success.

RMIT Industrial Design alumni Steve Martinuzzo, Jack Magree and Warwick Brown first met as students before going on to build Cobalt Design, now one of Australia’s leading product design consultancies.

Since launching in 1996, Cobalt Design has completed more than 1,200 projects, earned 75 awards and worked on products across healthcare, transport, science and everyday life, including the iconic KeepCup.

Through three decades of working together, their different perspectives, shared curiosity and friendship have remained at the heart of the business.

As Steve puts it, “good design is ultimately a team pursuit.”
