This week, we recognise National Sorry Day and National Reconciliation Week 2026.

National Sorry Day (Tuesday 26 May) is a time to acknowledge the forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families and communities – the Stolen Generations. Monash University held flag-lowering ceremonies across Australian campuses to mark this solemn occasion.

National Reconciliation Week runs from 27 May to 3 June. This year's theme, All In, reminds us that reconciliation is a shared responsibility – and that each of us has a role to play.

Monash College shares Monash University’s commitment to foster a society that recognises, respects and includes Indigenous peoples, cultures and knowledge. We invite our community to learn, reflect and take action.

At Monash College, we remain steadfast in championing and advocating for LGBTIQA+ communities – standing together to create safer, welcoming and more inclusive spaces for all. 🌈

This 17 May, we acknowledge IDAHOBIT – the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersex Discrimination and Transphobia.

We reflect on the history of discrimination against Rainbow and LGBTIQA+ communities, and the advocacy and action that has created change. We also acknowledge the work that still needs to be done – and strengthen our commitment to a safer, more inclusive community.

Eid Mubarak from Monash College! 🌙✨

Eid is a time for reflection, gratitude and togetherness – and this year, we were proud to mark the occasion with a special event. With Middle Eastern food, cultural stalls, and heartfelt videos shared by our Muslim students and staff, it was wonderful to come together as a community.

Happy Harmony Week! 🧡

This year’s theme, ‘Everyone Belongs’, is a reminder of the value of inclusion and respect in our community. Today also coincides with the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, recognising the strength and richness that cultural diversity brings to communities around the world.

With over 170 nationalities represented across our staff and students, diversity is anchored in who we are – and it is what makes Monash College a vibrant, inclusive and purposeful place to learn. This Harmony Week, we’re proud to celebrate our diversity and the sense of belonging it creates for everyone in our community.

Monash College joined the Monash contingent at Midsumma 2026 🏳️‍🌈

Our staff and students marched together last Sunday to celebrate Rainbow and LGBTIQA+ communities, recognising the strength of diverse voices and our shared commitment to creating inclusive spaces for everyone.

We are proud to be part of the broader Monash community as we show up for LGBTIQA+ people in ways that matter.
