Last weekend, Cohort 11 came together for their Leadership Shabbaton. โœจ

Planned and led entirely by the Fellows themselves, this was a weekend shaped by their vision, creativity and courage. From powerful peer led sessions to meaningful Shabbat moments, every detail reflected their growth as leaders and their commitment to each other.

They stepped up, trusted their voices and created space for connection, reflection and ruach. Watching them take ownership of the experience and back one another so wholeheartedly is the Diller impact in action.

So proud of this cohort and the leadership they are already bringing to our community ๐Ÿ’™

Last weekend, Cohort 11 came together for our Jewish Identity Shabbaton โœก๏ธ๐Ÿ•๏ธ

We spent the weekend learning, developing and questioning everything about our Jewish Identity, both as individuals and as a Cohort.

Over Shabbat, we engaged in meaningful discussions, prayers and an essential walk to the beach. We spent Shabbat switched off from the outside world! ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ“ฒ

As we brought Shabbat out, we celebrated with a Diller Disco, complete with ABSOLUTE HITS, fairy floss and bubbles ๐Ÿซง

Returning home from Shabbaton joy to the heartbreak of the Bondi attacks reminded us how precious and fragile life is, strengthening our commitment to celebrate Jewish identity with pride, to keep showing up for one another, and to send our love and solidarity to the Jewish community at this painful time.

DAY 5 & 6 OF IDENTITY IN THE SUNSHINE STATE (ISS) ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŽ†โœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Žโ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ญ

On Saturday we woke up and went to shul, we participated in a service and there was even a bar-mitzvah! We had kiddish at shul. Then we had a program at the botanical gardens followed by some free time at the hotel. Then we had shabbudies in which we were put into pairs and discussed some questions.

Next we returned to shul and had a havdallah ceremony. We then played a game with challenges and questions which the golanies also played. We had our last diller dinner with Sharni. Then we walked to an area of the city and weโ€™re delightfully surprised by a silent disco city tour. We danced and sang through the streets of Brisbane and we had so much fun. Lastly we came back to the hotel and had our last maagal lyla. It was very emotional and meaningful as we all wrote small messages to each other.

On Sunday, we all got ready to pack our bags and head downstairs. We went on a walk to southbank through the gardens, and had pizor!! (a time were we go get lunch together). We got to look at the brisbane market, and following that we rode the wheel of brisbane. After our ride on there, we walked back to the hotel and prepared for the journey home!

ISS was the best thing ever!

DAY 4 OF IDENTITY IN THE SUNSHINE STATE ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜Ž๐ŸŽ†

Today, we began the day by volunteering at a local community centre. We were divided into four groups and assigned different tasks, ranging from weeding to cleaning the pool windows. We also had the opportunity to hear from Noga, the vice president of the community centre, who shared the story of how it was founded and answered our questions.

After volunteering, we listened to two inspiring female activists, one originally from America and the other from Iran, who both now live in Brisbane. They spoke about their personal journeys and activism, sharing powerful stories and meaningful advice on how to create positive change in the world. While listening, we enjoyed a delicious homemade lunch, cooked by an extremely generous family who helps at the centre featuring falafel in pita, donuts, and chips, everyone loved it!

In the afternoon, we prepared for Shabbat and walked to the Margaret Street Shule, where we helped set up the hall for dinner. We took part in Kabbalat Shabbat and the Friday night service, which was an incredible and meaningful experience, especially for those who donโ€™t regularly attend shule. We ended the day with a beautiful Shabbat dinner alongside Betar kids who were close to us in age. We got along really well, made amazing new friends, and played games while chatting about their experiences growing up in Brisbane and being part of the Jewish community here.
