We'll be closed this Thursday 22 September and Friday 23 September, but open on Saturday 24 September. Come along to the gallery on Saturday afternoon to catch 'Archives of Feeling: Sensation, Connection, Community' as part of The Big Anxiety Festival.

'Archives of Feeling' imagines new ways of sharing the felt dimensions of trauma. In this exhibition, artists share personal connections, lived experiences and the impacts of trauma on themselves and their communities. Do you want a quieter experience in a gallery? Every Tuesday between 11am and midday, we offer a Quiet Hour at Design Hub Gallery. Quiet Hour provides a relaxed and calm environment for those of us who prefer a quieter experience of exhibitions. Quiet Hour, we will:

- Lower sound on audio works
- Turn off hand dryers within the facilities
- Lower light levels in the gallery where possible
- Provide printed transcripts of select uncaptioned video works
Encourage visitors to contribute to a more calm environment by requesting that phones be turned to silent, and to try to keep noise to a minimum.

We look forward to having you in the gallery! Find out more: https://designhub.rmit.edu.au/exhibitions-programs/archives-of-feeling/

We are excited to announce the launch of Archives of Feeling, our new exhibition that will span across multiple venues and explore how artists and communities transform lived experiences of trauma into new archives of knowledge and feeling.

Archives of Feeling will be part of The Big Anxiety – an arts and mental health festival launching for the first time in Melbourne this year. The Big Anxiety focuses on a people-centered, community-engaged approach to discussing, treating, and representing mental health.

Archives of Feeling will run from 19 Aug – 8 Oct 2022 at RMIT Design Hub Gallery, and from 21 Sep – 10 Dec 2022 at RMIT Gallery.

OUR 2022 MELBOURNE PROGRAM is LIVE !

Welcome to The Big Anxiety – festival of lived experiences, Naarm Melbourne

The Big Anxiety is a cultural platform for direct engagement with mental health. Embracing the diversity of lived experience, it examines what makes us anxious as individuals and social groups – from fears about the future to concerns about ourselves, our safety, other people and belonging.

Our Melbourne program responds to the realities of a post-pandemic world of inequity and trauma, asking how we might use our creative resources to create the conditions we need to support our ongoing mental health.

The arts are the best means we have for sharing complex experience. They show us what we don’t know about ourselves and others. They shine light on the relationships and social settings that help and hinder mental health, and they are a means to reinvent our lives.

Join us in Naarm for a program of art, ideas and transformations.
