U3A TRIVIA CHAMPIONS 2026
Well, we did it again, again!

On Thursday 5th March 2026 two Shellharbour City U3A teams entered the Shellharbour Council Seniors Festival U3A Trivia Competition. We are delighted to report that for the third consecutive year, Shellharbour City U3A Inc triumphed yet again. Does this mean we are the smartest U3A in the area?
Congratulations to our winning team members Julie Carbonara, Frances Cardwell, Dawn Carr, Kevin Fuller, Christine Giles and Jane Labriola. A very well deserved win.
It was a very closely fought contest, which was decided by a tie-breaker. The trophy is home and will remain in our care for another year.
Our other team of Clare Farrell, Liam Farrell, Jenny Long, Darryl Pont, Lyn Thong and Barbara Vicary came third.
Congratulations to all and Well Done.

Winning Trivia Team from L - R: Jane Labriola, Kevin Fuller, Dawn Carr, Christine Giles, Julie Carbonara and Frances Cardwell

Home safe and sound from our few days away thanks to our fantastic bus driver Albo(Peter). Our last day saw us cruising up the Hawkesbury River on the Postman's Ferry. Beautiful scenery and a delicious lunch. We enjoyed a Christmas themed last dinner where raffle prizes were drawn. A very big thank you from all the travellers to Di and Pam, our wonderful holiday organisers. We had a wonderful time full of amazing experiences.

A long day today starting with a picnic lunch of meat pies in Kurri Kurri and finishing with the Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas light display with a wine tasting and cheese tasting in between. Kurri Kurri has 60 wall murals spread around town. The Christmas lights were spectacular.

Today we drove to Port Stephens. Our first stop was the koala sanctuary. What a wonderful complex. It has 10 permanent koalas and a hospital that treats injured and sick koalas before returning them to the wild. Then we had a ride on the Port Stephens Ferry across to Tea Gardens. We enjoyed a picnic lunch by the river at Hawks Nest before spending some time in historic Morpeth. Our day finished with some trivia thanks to Kevin. A very full but wonderful day.

Day 2 of the holiday saw us heading to Newcastle to the Hunter Wetlands Centre. We enjoyed morning tea before we headed off for a walk around the site. The magpie geese entertained us while they were being fed and we had a chance to buy some souvenirs before we headed to Raymond Terrace for lunch and to see the beautiful jacaranda trees. We enjoyed a drive around Newcastle in the afternoon. Time for happy hour and dinner.
