What an incredible experience for our 2026 Accelerate! Voice students, who wrapped up the program last month at His Majesty's Theatre, Perth with West Australian Opera.
For their final session, participants took part in a masterclass and ensemble rehearsal, as well as observing a masterclass and Q&A with some of WAO’s Young Artists. They also had the chance to meet Sam Dundas, star of WAO’s recent Eugene Onegin season, and hear about his experiences as a professional singer.
Running across Term 2/3 and incorporating the WA Day of Voice, the program gave secondary students the chance to extend their skills, learn from leading performers and teachers, meet other young singers and experience where a future in music might take them.
Across the program, students learned from Lisa Harper-Brown, Sara Macliver, Libby Hammer, Peter Quayle, David Woods, Rabiya Plush-Noad, Veronica Santoro, Vin Trikiriotis, Belinda Butler and Jasmine Young, as well as working alongside UWA Classical Voice students.
A huge thank you to Helen Dwyer and everyone at West Australian Opera and His Majesty’s, and to all the artists, staff and students who so generously shared their time and expertise throughout the program.
Most importantly, congratulations to our Accelerate! Voice students. We hope you head into your exams with new skills, plenty of inspiration and an extra boost of confidence. We can’t wait to see where your singing takes you next!
