Growing up in the Sutherland Shire Byron learned to surf by the age of 12. Byron surfed the Cronulla Beaches including Cronulla Point, Greenhills and Voodoo.
Over the years Byron has competed in a number of watersports, including surfing events, triathlon and ocean swimming events.

Hi everyone, thought I would introduce myself. I'm Byron Smith. I've been in the Allied Health Industry for over 30 years; I started in my early twenties as an elite freestyle skier. I trained in Perisher Valley with other early pioneer freestyle skiers and together we developed aerial, mogul and trick snow skiing.
I competed in Australia and the USA, with podium finishes and corporate sponsorship.
I spent over a decade living and working in the Australian Alps. I was specialist freestyle coach in the Victoria ski resorts.
A highlight of this time was training and competing in the New England area of the USA, based in the Killington Ski Resort Freestyle skiing camp. I competed on the World Cup Freestyle Circuit at Song Mountain, New York State.
I love sharing my knowledge and experience with elite athletes.
