Thanks to all who visited our repair cafe yesterday ! Together, we fixed a total of 14 items, including:
🩳 Hemmed 2 pants and I pair of shorts
🪡 Repaired holes/rips in 2 shirts
👚 Sewed straps back on 2 tops
👖 Adjusted waistband width
🎒 Repaired holes in 3 bags
💍 Repaired 3 jewellery items (necklace, bracelet and earrings)

A massive shoutout to our incredible volunteers who made it all possible. Your dedication is truly appreciated!

Attention UQ University Students! 🎓🌱

Check out this inspiring story from a Melbourne primary school that's making a big impact on textile waste! 🛍️✨

The students at St Paul the Apostle in Doreen have launched a cool project called "Trash to Fash." They're turning second-hand clothes into fashionable items, saving them from ending up in landfills. Not only are they helping the environment, but they're also raising money for their community! 💚🌏

Led by educator Laura Vissaritis, this initiative teaches valuable skills like sewing and creative problem-solving. They even came up with ideas like a garment resizing machine and eco-friendly dyeing techniques! 🧵🎨

Now, here's the exciting part: You can get involved too! Ever heard of Repair Cafe? It's a fantastic way to learn about repairing things instead of tossing them out. By joining your local Repair Cafe, you can be part of the solution to reduce waste and promote sustainability. 🛠️🌿

Our Last 🪡🧵Repair Café🛠 of the semester was an absolute success, repairing 🌟22 items🌟 in total thanks to our wonderful volunteers and participants, many of which repaired their own items while learning a new skill along the way👌

The Repair Cafe is back for its last event of the semester, so if you have any items in need of sewing repair, bring them down on Wednesday May 3rd (week 10) from 10am to 1pm. More details on the location will be posted soon and updated on the events tab of the page.

Our last event was absolutely amazing with great attendance and immaculate vibes completing a total of 18 repairs.
