Meet Doctor Ella 🩺
Dr Ella is an Anaesthetic Principal House Officer at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, but her impact goes far beyond the operating theatre.
With family connections to Yirrganydji and Wulgurukaba Country, and having grown up on Turrbal Country, Ella brings both cultural strength and clinical expertise into her work every day.
Anaesthetists are often known as “the doctors who put you to sleep” but as Ella explains, it’s so much more than that. From keeping patients safe and comfortable during surgery to responding in critical moments, her role is all about care, trust and teamwork.
For Ella, this work is deeply personal. “My goal has always been to be an Aboriginal doctor for Aboriginal people.”
Having worked in regional and rural areas, Ella has seen firsthand the barriers our communities can face when accessing care. She’s passionate about closing those barriers and hopes to one day take her specialist skills back out to community.
Ella is driven to inspire the next generation. “I’ve always felt that we don’t believe we can achieve what we don’t see.”
