A simple conversation can make a real difference.

This September, TIIS Cares: R U OK? Day is coming to our Sydney Campus, creating space for our community to check in, connect, and have meaningful conversations about mental health and wellbeing.

Throughout the day, students can take part in interactive activities, wellbeing conversations, and campus initiatives designed to make it easier to ask, listen, and support one another.

This week, we welcomed our Block 5 cohort to TIIS for orientation. It was a great opportunity to meet the team, get familiar with campus, learn what to expect in the weeks ahead, and start making connections with new classmates.

Starting a new study journey can come with a lot of questions, so orientation is all about helping everyone feel more comfortable, informed, and ready for what’s ahead.

To our newest members of the TIIS community, welcome. We’re glad to have you with us and look forward to seeing your journey unfold.

This is known as the **Spotlight Effect** — a psychological phenomenon where we tend to overestimate how much other people notice our appearance, behaviour and embarrassing moments.

That awkward thing you said? That presentation you keep replaying in your head? That moment you thought everyone was staring at you? 😭

The truth is, most people probably aren't thinking about it nearly as much as you are.

Why?

We are deeply saddened by the recent events in Nepal.

To our Nepalese students, and to all members of our TIIS community with family, friends, and loved ones in Nepal, including our partner agents, we are thinking of you during this difficult time.

We sincerely hope that you and your loved ones are safe. If you are affected and need support, wellbeing support is available to students through our Student Support team.

Our thoughts are with everyone in Nepal and all those impacted.

🌏❤️ Celebrating the cultures that make TIIS what it is!

Our TIIS Multicultural Day, organised by our Student Representative Council, was a chance for students and staff to come together, share their cultures and simply enjoy a day together.

From sharing food and drinks to playing games, competing in our very serious ping pong spoon relay 😂 and testing everyone's knowledge with Kahoot, it was a fun and relaxed day filled with plenty of laughs.

One of our favourite parts was our world map, where students could pin the country they’re from. Watching the map fill up with pins was such a simple but meaningful reminder of just how many different cultures and backgrounds are represented within our TIIS community.

TIIS is home to students and staff from all around the world, and we're proud to celebrate the diversity, experiences and stories that each person brings with them.

A great evening of conversations, connections, and shared experiences at Nepalese in Tech yesterday.

Hosted at our Sydney campus, the event brought together students, graduates, and tech professionals for an open conversation about careers in Australia’s technology sector.

Thank you to our panelists Sajit Gurubacharya, Dipesh Shrestha, Monika Bhatt, and Rupesh Shrestha, and to Brasish Suwal for moderating the discussion.

We’re glad to create space for communities like this to connect with our students, share industry perspectives, and make professional networks more accessible beyond the classroom.

Another GolangSyd Meetup at our Sydney campus, and another opportunity for our students to connect with the wider tech community.

This time, we were especially happy to see two more TIIS students joining the GolangSyd community and taking part in the conversations, learning and connections happening beyond the classroom.

It’s encouraging to see these industry communities becoming more accessible to our students, giving them more opportunities to meet professionals, learn from others in the field and become part of the broader tech ecosystem.

Thank you to Katie Fry and the GolangSyd community for continuing to bring these opportunities to our campus.
