ASOC is one of the most highly regarded actuarial student societies in Australia and is also one of the most active clubs in UNSW in terms of activities and support for our members. We provide a wide range of events throughout the year, in four major areas: social; sporting; academic; and careers. These involve events such as a mentoring program, PASS classes, inter-university sporting competitions, BBQs, career seminars, camp, an annual ball and many more. We also produce a monthly publication for members and pride ourselves on developing an active network of volunteers which allows members to develop skills, get involved in campus life, and have a sense of ownership in our activities. Moreoever, the latest news, snapshots and reviews of our fantastic events are published in our regular Finity Actuarial Bulletin.

A reminder that registrations for Susquehanna’s 'The Showdown' poker tournament are open!

University students across Australia and New Zealand are encouraged to register for this exciting opportunity to compete against top students from across the region. With no fee to play and all experience levels welcome, 'The Showdown' combines competition, strategy, and the chance to connect with Susquehanna.

This year’s event features a total prize pool of $12,500, with our top three finishers taking home:
First Prize: $5,000
Second Prize: $2,500
Third Prize: $1,500

Additionally, all players who reach the final two tables will receive an exploratory first-round phone interview with Susquehanna.

Event Details:
Step 1: Register to play
Step 2: Join our online estimation game on Thursday, 21st May to qualify for the in-person tournament. The top performers will advance to the poker showdown at Susquehanna’s APAC headquarters in Sydney.
Step 3: Compete at the Susquehanna Showdown Final Table on Saturday, 27th June. Flights and accommodation will be covered for all non-NSW residents.

ATTENTION ALL MATH1151 STUDENTS!

Final exams are fast approaching, and we are excited to announce the final PASS class for MATH1151, which will be a walkthrough of the questions from the MATH1151 final exam question bank (i.e. 67% of your final exam). This walkthrough will be on Thursday 30th April (week 11) from 10am until 6pm (or until we're done). There will be a 1h lunch break and more short breaks in between.

To maximise the effectiveness, please ensure you have attempted the questions on your own before 30th April. We will be focusing directly on solutions, so we require you are familiar with the course content and have attempted the questions beforehand. Please note that the event will not be recorded and no sign up is required, feel free to show up on the day.
