The 1967 Referendum showed what’s possible when Australians come together for change.
More than 90% of voters said “yes” to recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the census and advancing the rights of First Nations peoples.
But this moment was built on generations of courage, advocacy and action led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Reconciliation isn’t passive and it isn’t the responsibility of First Nations people alone. Real change happens when we’re all in.
