Malik, then minister of Labour, Health, Social welfare and Family planning, inaugurated the college on 6 February 1971. In 1976 the college was advanced as Degree Bachelor (Pass) and in 1998 the college opened Honours Courses with Management, Bangali. Afterwards Political Science, Islamic History & Culture, Social Work, Geography & environment, Zoology, Mathematics, Marketing, Accounting were open

ed. Honours Course on other subjects & Masters Course on a few subjects are on the process. Taking the help of urbanization and for having skilled teacher staff the college has become one of the reputed colleges in the northern part of the Bangladesh. Right now it is the largest non government educational institution & most beautiful college in the North Bengal.
