What does it take to move from CU to higher studies in South Korea?

From finding suitable programmes and meeting admission requirements to preparing applications and securing funding, the process can feel overwhelming for students unsure where to begin.

নোবেলজয়ী বিজ্ঞানীর সঙ্গে গবেষণাপত্রের সহলেখক চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সাবেক শিক্ষার্থী আবদুল্লাহ আল জামান

একটি গবেষণাপত্রে নোবেলজয়ী বিজ্ঞানীর সঙ্গে সহলেখক (Co Author) হিসেবে নিজের নাম দেখতে পাওয়া যেকোনো তরুণ গবেষকের জন্যই এক বিশেষ অর্জন। চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের পদার্থবিজ্ঞান বিভাগের সাবেক শিক্ষার্থী মো. আবদুল্লাহ আল জামানের জন্য সেই অর্জন এখন বাস্তব।

যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ইউনিভার্সিটি অব কানসাসের পদার্থবিজ্ঞান ও জ্যোতির্বিজ্ঞান বিভাগে পিএইচডি গবেষণারত আবদুল্লাহ আল জামান সম্প্রতি একটি স্পেস টেলিস্কোপ প্রকল্পের সঙ্গে যুক্ত থেকে তাঁর প্রথম গবেষণাপত্র প্রকাশের মাধ্যমে উল্লেখযোগ্য সাফল্য অর্জন করেছেন। The Astrophysical Journal-এ প্রকাশিত এই গবেষণাপত্রের সহলেখকদের মধ্যে রয়েছেন নোবেলজয়ী বিজ্ঞানী ড. সল পার্লমাটার (Saul Perlmutter)। মহাবিশ্বের ত্বরিত প্রসারণ আবিষ্কারে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অবদানের জন্য তিনি ২০১১ সালে পদার্থবিজ্ঞানে নোবেল পুরস্কার লাভ করেন।

মাত্র তিন বছর আগেও এমন অভিজ্ঞতা তাঁর কাছে ছিল কল্পনাতীত। নিজের অনুভূতি প্রকাশ করতে গিয়ে আবদুল্লাহ আল জামান জানিয়েছেন, এই গবেষণাপত্রের সহলেখক হতে পারার বিষয়টি একসময় তাঁর কাছে অবিশ্বাস্য মনে হতো। এ অর্জনের জন্য তিনি তাঁর গবেষণা সুপারভাইজার অধ্যাপক ক্রসফিল্ডের প্রতিও কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করেছেন, যাঁর আস্থা ও দিকনির্দেশনায় তিনি এই প্রকল্পে যুক্ত হওয়ার সুযোগ পেয়েছিলেন।

এই সাফল্য কেবল একজন নোবেলজয়ী বিজ্ঞানীর সঙ্গে একই গবেষণাপত্রে নাম যুক্ত হওয়ার মধ্যেই সীমাবদ্ধ নয়। বরং এটি আন্তর্জাতিক গবেষণা প্রকল্পে অংশগ্রহণ, জ্যোতির্পদার্থবিজ্ঞানের মতো বিশেষায়িত ক্ষেত্রে কাজ করা এবং বৈশ্বিক বৈজ্ঞানিক জ্ঞানচর্চায় অবদান রাখার একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ উদাহরণ। একজন তরুণ গবেষকের দীর্ঘ প্রস্তুতি, শেখার আগ্রহ এবং উপযুক্ত গবেষণার পরিবেশে কাজ করার সুযোগ কীভাবে নতুন সম্ভাবনার দ্বার খুলে দিতে পারে, আবদুল্লাহ আল জামানের পথচলা তারই প্রতিফলন।

বাংলাদেশের বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়গুলোতেও এমন অসংখ্য মেধাবী শিক্ষার্থী রয়েছেন, যাঁদের গবেষণার আগ্রহ ও সক্ষমতা আন্তর্জাতিক পর্যায়ে অবদান রাখার সম্ভাবনা ধারণ করে। তাঁদের সেই সম্ভাবনাকে বাস্তবে রূপ দিতে প্রয়োজন পর্যাপ্ত গবেষণার সুযোগ, আধুনিক অবকাঠামো, অর্থায়ন, আন্তর্জাতিক সহযোগিতা এবং অভিজ্ঞ গবেষকদের দিকনির্দেশনা। আবদুল্লাহ আল জামানের এই অর্জন আমাদের মনে করিয়ে দেয়, উপযুক্ত সুযোগ ও মেন্টরশিপ পেলে চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থীরাও আন্তর্জাতিক গবেষণাঙ্গনে নিজেদের অবস্থান তৈরি করতে পারেন।

চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের এই অ্যালামনাইয়ের সাফল্যে চিটাগাং ইউনিভার্সিটি রিসার্চ অ্যান্ড হায়ার স্টাডি সোসাইটি (সিইউআরএইচএস) পরিবার আনন্দিত ও গর্বিত। তাঁর গবেষণাযাত্রা আরও সাফল্যে সমৃদ্ধ হোক, নতুন নতুন আবিষ্কার ও জ্ঞান সৃষ্টিতে তাঁর অবদান প্রসারিত হোক। এই প্রত্যাশায় আবদুল্লাহ আল জামানকে জানাই আন্তরিক অভিনন্দন ও শুভকামনা।

“আশ্বিনের শারদপ্রাতে বেজে উঠেছে আগমনী সুর,
শিউলির সুবাসে, কাশফুলের দোলায় সেজেছে প্রকৃতি অপরূপ সাজে।”

শরতের নীল আকাশে শুভ্র মেঘের ভেলা, শিশিরভেজা শিউলির সুবাস আর বাতাসে ভেসে আসা ঢাকের মধুর বোল জানান দিচ্ছে দেবীপক্ষের আগমনী বার্তা। ঋতুচক্রের আবর্তে অপেক্ষার প্রহর শেষে আবারও মর্ত্যলোকে আগমন ঘটেছে দুর্গতিনাশিনী, মঙ্গলময়ী দেবী দুর্গার। শরতের স্নিগ্ধতা আর উৎসবের অনির্বচনীয় আবহে বাঙালির চিরায়ত ঐতিহ্য, আবেগ ও আনন্দের অন্যতম শ্রেষ্ঠ উৎসব শারদীয় দুর্গোৎসবকে ঘিরে মুখরিত হয়ে উঠেছে চারপাশ।

দেবী দুর্গা শক্তি, সাহস ও শুভের প্রতীক। তাঁর আরাধনা অশুভ শক্তির বিনাশ, ন্যায়ের প্রতিষ্ঠা এবং সত্যের জয়ের চিরন্তন বার্তা বহন করে। দেবীর আগমন আমাদের মনে জাগিয়ে তোলে নতুন আশার আলো, অন্যায়ের বিরুদ্ধে দাঁড়ানোর সাহস এবং কল্যাণের পথে এগিয়ে চলার প্রেরণা। মায়ের আশীর্বাদে পৃথিবী ভরে উঠুক শান্তি, সম্প্রীতি, সৌহার্দ্য ও মানবিকতার আলোয়।

উৎসব কেবল আনন্দ উদ্‌যাপনের উপলক্ষ নয়, বরং মানুষের সঙ্গে মানুষের আত্মিক বন্ধনকে আরও দৃঢ় করার এক অনন্য মুহূর্ত। ধর্ম-বর্ণের ভেদাভেদ ভুলে পারস্পরিক শ্রদ্ধা, ভালোবাসা ও সম্প্রীতির মধ্য দিয়ে শারদীয় দুর্গোৎসব হয়ে উঠুক সবার মিলনমেলা। এই আনন্দময় উৎসব প্রতিটি হৃদয়ে ছড়িয়ে দিক আশার আলো, প্রতিটি জীবনে বয়ে আনুক সুখ, শান্তি ও সমৃদ্ধি।

All our life processes, waking, talking, moving, and feeding all are essentially chemical reactions. This chemistry of life has a name called biochemistry. Our life is written in DNA, powered by metabolism, and carried out by enzymes and proteins, and understanding it takes rigorous, in-depth study. That is the calling of 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆, which has long been a home for scholars devoted to unraveling how life works.
