Bangladesh needs honest and competent individuals in politics, said Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan, Advisor to the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources. He urged young people with integrity to consider building careers in politics while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of a day-long Job Fair at East West University on Saturday.

Khan encouraged students to focus on creating opportunities rather than solely pursuing jobs. He emphasized that in today’s world, skills matter more than academic degrees, noting that “what a person can do is more important than the degree they hold.” He called on the youth to generate wealth through production and innovation instead of relying on lobbying or undue advantages.

Nihad Kabir, former president of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dhaka and special guest at the event, said the Job Fair offers students an excellent opportunity to explore career paths. It allows them to learn in detail about the organizations they are interested in, she added.

Professor Mohammad Farashuddin, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of East West University and former Governor of Bangladesh Bank, highlighted the importance of small and medium enterprises in reducing poverty and inequality. He stressed that the country needs to create and train three million small entrepreneurs and provide them with low-interest or Islamic Mudaraba loans to boost production and employment.

East West University Vice Chancellor Professor Shams Rahman said the fair was organized to strengthen the connection between industry and academia. He noted that the event allows both students to apply to their preferred organizations and employers to identify graduates who meet their needs.

A total of 70 national and multinational organizations—including banks, NGOs, telecom companies, RMG and garment industries, beverage and electronics firms, software companies, financial institutions, non-profits, pharmaceutical companies, and HR and professional training institutes—participated in the fair held on the East West University campus in Aftabnagar.
