Celebrating the Spirit of Ramadan: Iftar Get-Together 2026

The Department of Pharmacy, East West University, successfully organized a heartfelt Iftar Get-Together on March 4, 2026. The evening was a beautiful blend of spiritual reflection, camaraderie, and cherished memories, bringing together faculty members, esteemed alumni, and current students under one roof.

We were deeply honored to have the presence of Chairperson, Board of Trustees and Founder, Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, along with the Pro VC of EWU, Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik. Their gracious attendance and inspiring words added immense value to the occasion.

The reunion was made truly special by the participation of our distinguished alumni. We extend our sincere gratitude to our graduates, who took the time to reconnect with their alma mater and expressed their joy at being part of this wonderful gathering. Their success continues to inspire our current students.

A heartfelt appreciation goes to the dedicated team of faculty members whose guidance made this event seamless. Most importantly, we extend our deepest thanks to the passionate students and volunteers of the Department of Pharmacy. Your tireless effort, meticulous planning, and warm hospitality were the cornerstones of this event’s success.

The Department of Pharmacy, East West University, in collaboration with ACME Laboratories Ltd., organized an awareness seminar titled ‘Abnormal Uterine Bleeding & Its Prevention’ on 24 February 2026 at the university campus.
The program commenced with welcome remarks delivered by Professor Dr. Shamsun Nahar Khan, who underscored the importance of menstruation education for both genders to promote awareness and reduce social stigma.
We were privileged to have Professor Dr. Neaz T. Parveen, Professor and Head of the Department (Obs & Gyn), MARKS Hospital, as the distinguished speaker of the seminar. In her keynote speech, she provided a clear understanding of uterine physiology and elaborated on abnormalities associated with menstrual health. She discussed irregular menstruation, early menarche, and the importance of timely awareness and early consultation with physicians. She also shared her expert insights on preventive measures and management strategies to address abnormal uterine bleeding effectively.
Professor Dr. Md. Amirul Islam, Chairperson of the Department of Pharmacy, EWU, along with faculty members and female students of the department, actively participated in the seminar. Distinguished representatives from ACME Laboratories Ltd. were also present.
The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Nafisa Tabassum, Deputy Manager and Portfolio Incharge, Hormone Gynocare, ACME Laboratories Ltd. Concluding remarks were provided by the Chairperson, Professor Dr. Md. Amirul Islam, who expressed appreciation to the speaker, organizers, and participants for making the event meaningful and impactful.
The session was smoothly conducted by Ms. Rashmia Nargis Reyda, Lecturer, Department of Pharmacy. Enthusiastic participation from everyone made the seminar a grand success.
It is worth mentioning that as a part of the event, ACME Laboratories Ltd. arranged a Virtual Reality (VR) session focusing on menstruation awareness, safe menstrual practices, and the rational use of medication during menstruation. The immersive experience enabled participants to gain practical understanding in an engaging and technology-driven manner.

EWU Pharma Cricket Battle 9.0 Concludes with Enthusiasm and Excellence

The EWU Pharma Cricket Battle 9.0 commenced with a vibrant inaugural ceremony on January 28, 2026. The event was inaugurated through the unveiling of the tournament trophy by Professor Dr. Md. Amirul Islam, Chairperson, Department of Pharmacy, East West University. The ceremony was honored by the presence of distinguished faculty members, including Professor Dr. Chowdhury Faiz Hossain, Professor Dr. Shamsun Nahar Khan, and Dr. Rejina Afrin, Associate Professor, along with respected alumni and enthusiastic current students of the department.

The tournament matches took place on January 30 and 31, 2026, featuring 15 teams. After a series of exciting and closely contested matches, Neuro Blasters emerged as the champions, while Hunters of Hypnotic House secured the position of runners-up. Mr. Mehedi Hasan, an alumnus of the 19-3 Batch, was awarded the Man of the Tournament title in recognition of his outstanding performance.

The tournament was organized by the 23-3 Batch (Adrenaline Dynamos), whose dedicated planning and coordinated efforts ensured the successful ex*****on of the event.

The Department of Pharmacy proudly extends its warm congratulations to the graduates on the momentous occasion of the 25th Convocation of East West University held on February 2, 2026. This distinguished event celebrates academic dedication, perseverance, and the successful completion of an important chapter in higher education.

The Department is especially pleased to acknowledge Jannatun Naim, who has been awarded the Gold Medal in recognition of her exemplary academic performance, achieving a CGPA of 4.00 out of 4.00 in the Master of Pharmacy in Clinical Pharmacy and Molecular Pharmacology program.

The Department also takes great pride in noting that one of its esteemed faculty members, Associate Professor Dr. Rejina Afrin, successfully performed her duties as the Convocation Marshal for this year’s Convocation.

The Department of Pharmacy, East West University, organized a Certificate Awarding Ceremony on January 31, 2026 commemorating Pharma Carnival 2024 and World Pharmacists Day 2025, for honoring the enthusiastic volunteers and participants of various co-curricular events of Pharma Carnival including Poster Presentation, Pharma Olympiad, Extempore Speech, and 3MT. The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Honorable Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, as the Chief Guest, along with our respected Chairperson, Professor Dr. Md. Amirul Islam. The faculty members of the department were also present to encourage the students. The event recognized the dedication, talent, and active engagement of our students in promoting pharmaceutical knowledge and professional excellence.

Excursion of Department of Pharmacy to Square Pharmaceuticals PLC

The students of Department of Pharmacy, East West University had the opportunity to visit the world-class facilities of Square Pharmaceuticals PLC, the largest pharmaceutical manufacturer of Bangladesh, on January 24, 2026. This visit offered the students a comprehensive understanding of potential career paths and the innovative technologies shaping the future of the pharmaceutical industry.
Our respected faculty members, Dr. Farhana Rizwan, Associate Professor & convener of ECAC, Dr. Nazia Hoque, Associate Professor, Ms. Nishat Nasrin, Assistant Professor, Ms. Nigar Sultana Tithi, Senior Lecturer, and Mr. Md. Zahirul Islam, Lecturer, guided the students throughout the tour along with expert representatives from different departments of Square Pharmaceuticals PLC.
The visit granted beneficial insights about the innovative and efficient processes involved in manufacturing of solid dosage forms from dispensing of API to packaging of finished products, which enriched the students with the practical exposure of theoretical knowledge.
During the tour, the students also explored the sophisticated quality control laboratory where they observed the demonstrations of regulatory procedures which ensures compliance with industry standards and maintenance of product quality.
The students really enjoyed the visit, showed great interaction with its content, and exchanged fruitful scientific discussions with the representatives. This integration of real world expertise have equipped them with valuable knowledge and networking opportunities with a memory to cherish for lifetime.
