Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) is located in the heart of the capital city, Dhaka with an excellent public transportation facilities to reach the university. The "Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Act 2001" was passed in the national Parliament on 09 July 2001. The foundation stone of the University was laid by the then Honorable Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina on 15 July 2001 and in

augurated the university activities through the appointment of the first Vice-Chancellor Professor Md. The Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University had started its formal functions on 11 September 2001 following the issuance of a notification by the Government as per requirement of the the "Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Act 2001". The BAI was established on December 11, 1938 by Sher-e-Bangla A.K. Fazlul Huq, the then Chief Minister of undivided Bengal. At that time the name of this institution was "The Bengal Agricultural Institute" was renamed "East Pakistan Agricultural Institute" in 1947. After the emergence of Bangladesh as an independent country in 1971, the name of the institute was spontaneously changed to Bangladesh Agricultural Institute (BAI). Since its inception in 1938, the BAI had been functioning as a "Faculty of Agriculture" under Dhaka University. Meanwhile with the establishment of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) at Mymensingh in 1961 its academic function was transferred to BAU in 1964 till its upgradation to Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University in 2001. Nearly 5700 graduates plus 598 postgraduates have so far been produced by the Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. Graduates of this University have been playing pioneer role in the development of agricultural system and agro-based economy of the country. They are involved in various national and international services ranging from civil service to UN assignments including UN peace keeping forces. Presently about 2000 undergraduate and postgraduate students are enrolled in this University and are taught by a total of 149 teachers. The Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University was established for the expansion of higher agricultural education and committed to promote research in various fields of agricultural sciences and to offer extension services. A number of research projects have been undertaken by the different departments of the University. It has made a significant progress towards commencing collaborative research programmes with some foreign universities.

শেরেবাংলা ‍কৃষি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উপাচার্য হিসাবে অধ্যাপক কামাল উদ্দিন আহমেদ, উপ-উপাচার্য হিসাবে অধ্যাপক সেকেন্দার আলী ও কোষাধ্যক্ষ পদে নিয়োগ পেলেন অধ্যাপক আনোয়ারুল হক বেগ । এই মাত্র ( বিকাল ৫ টায়) সরকারি আদেশ সংশ্লিষ্টদের হাতে পৌছে দেয়া হয়েছে। গুরুত্বপূর্ন এই তিন কর্মকর্তা বিকালেই মন্ত্রণালয়ের যোগদান করেন।
উপাচার্য, উপ-উপাচার্য এবং কোষাধ্যক্ষ মহোদয়কে শুভেচ্ছা ও অভিনন্দন ।

দুটি তদন্ত কমিটির প্রতিবেদনে বিভিন্ন অনিয়ম ও দুর্নীতির অভিযোগ প্রমাণিত হলেও শেরে বাংলা কৃষি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উপাচার্য (ভিসি) শাদাত উল্লার বিরুদ্ধে ব্যবস্থা নেওয়াটা শুধুমাত্র প্রধানমন্ত্রী ও রাষ্ট্রপতির সিদ্ধান্তের অপেক্ষায় রয়েছে। এমনটি দাবি শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয়।

শেরেবাংলা কৃষি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের (শেকৃবি) প্রথম সমাবর্তন অনুষ্ঠিত হবে আগামি ১৬ নভেম্বর। মঙ্গলবার শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয় থেকে তা নিশ্চিত করা হয়। ২০০১ সনের ৪৬ নং আইনের ধারা ৯ এর সংশোধনে ২ ধারা মোতাবেক মহামান্য রাষ্ট্রপতি ও চ্যান্সেলর আবদুল হামিদ আগামী ১৬ নভেম্বর ২০১৫ তারিখ বিকেল ৩.০০ টায় ১ম সমাবর্তন অনুষ্ঠানে সভাপতিত্ব করার সদয় সম্মতি জ্ঞাপন করেছেন।
এদিকে সমাবর্তন ঘিরে শেকৃবি ক্যাম্পাসে এখন সাজসাজ রব চলছে। প্রস্তুতিতে ব্যস্ত বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রশাসন। প্রথম সমাবর্তন নিয়ে শিক্ষক, শিক্ষার্থী ও গ্র্যাজুয়েটদের মধ্যে তাই প্রবল উত্তেজনা।উপাচার্য প্রফেসর মো. শাদাত উল্লা জানান, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রতিষ্ঠার পর প্রথমবারের মতো সমাবর্তন আয়োজন করা হচ্ছে।
২০০১ সালে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় হিসেবে প্রতিষ্ঠার পর থেকে আজ পর্যন্ত কোন সমাবর্তন অনুষ্ঠিত হয়নি। ২০১১ সালের ডিসেম্বর প্রথম সমাবর্তনের অনুষ্ঠানের জন্য ৪০ তম একাডেমিক কাউন্সিলের সভায় প্রাথমিকভাবে সিদ্ধান্ত গৃহীত হয়। যা ৫২ তম সিন্ডিকেটের সভায় অনুমোদিত হয়। কিন্তু বিভিন্ন সামাজিক ও রাজনৈতিক কারনে সমাবর্তন আয়োজন করা যায়নি। চলতি বছর ১০ জুন ৫৮ তম একাডেমিক কাউন্সিলের সভায় প্রথম সমাবর্তন করার ব্যাপারে আবার সিদ্ধান্ত গৃহীত হয় এবং ৭১ তম সিন্ডিকেটের সভায় অনুমোদিত হয়।

শেকৃবি ২০১৪-১৫ শিক্ষাবর্ষে ভর্তি পরীক্ষা ফল প্রকাশ

রাজধানীর শেরেবাংলা কৃষি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ২০১৪-১৫ শিক্ষাবর্ষের ভর্তি পরীক্ষার ফল প্রকাশ করা হয়েছে। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ওয়েবসাইট , নোটিশ বোর্ডের মাধ্যমে ফলাফল জানা যাবে। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উপাচার্য প্রফেসর মোঃ শাদাত উল্লা আজ (রবিবার) রাত সাড়ে আটটা ফল ঘোষনা করেন। মূল মেধা তালিকা থেকে ভর্তি ২১ এবং ২২ ডিসেম্বর। ক্লাশ শুরু হবে ৪ জানুয়ারি ২০১৫। ১৪ নভেম্বর অনুষ্ঠিত পরীক্ষা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ৩ টি অনুষদে ৫০০ আসনের বিপরীতে চলতি শিক্ষাবর্ষে আবেদন করেছে ২১ হাজার ৮ শত ৮৫ জন প্রতিযোগী । এক আসনের বিপরীতে গড়ে ৪৪ জন শিক্ষার্থী ভর্তিযুদ্ধে আংশগ্রহন করে। অপেক্ষামান তালিকা থেকে ভর্তি ২৪ ডিসেম্বর। অপেক্ষামান তালিকা থেকে ভর্তিচছু প্রার্থীদের ২৩ ডিসেম্বর বেলা ২ টার মধ্যে রেজিস্ট্রার কার্যালয়ে প্রবেশপত্র জমা দিতে হবে এবং একই দিন মেধাক্রম অনুসারে ভর্তিযোগ্য প্রার্থীদের তালিকা প্রকাশ করা হবে। কৃষি অনুষদে ৩৫০, ত্রগ্রিবিজনেস ম্যানেজমেন্ট অনুষদে ৭৫ এবং এনিম্যাল সায়েন্স ও ভেটেরীনারী মেডিসিন অনুষদ ৭৫। ভর্তি বিষয়ে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে ওয়েবসাইট-www.sau.edu.bd থেকে বিস্তারিত জানা যাবে।

এক মেধাবী তরুন বলেন, প্রধানমন্ত্রীর গোল্ড পদক প্রাপ্তকেও নিয়োগ না দিয়ে অপেক্ষাকৃত কম মেধাবীদেরকে শুধুমাত্র রাজনীতিক পরিচিতি ও আর্থিক যোগসাজসে নিয়োগ দেওয়া হয়। তাহলে ভাল রেজাল্ট করেও কোন লাভ নেই। এই উপাচার্যের আমলে নিয়োগের অনিয়ম অতীতের সকল রেকর্ড ছাড়িয়ে গেছে।
