Honoring a Legacy: Uttara University Hosts Special Seminar on Rabindranath Tagore

The Department of Bangla and the Department of English at Uttara University jointly organized a prestigious seminar titled "Rabindranath in the Test of Time: Challenges and Prospects" on May 21, 2026. The event served as a vibrant gathering of the country's eminent academics, researchers and scholars who came together to discuss the enduring legacy of the Nobel laureate.

Dr. Serajul Islam Choudhury, Professor Emeritus of the Department of English at Dhaka University, graced the seminar as the keynote speaker, offering profound insights into the contemporary relevance of Tagore. The event was further honored by the presence of Uttara University's Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha; Advisor Dr. Parveen Akther Jemy; Professor Dr. Chanchal Kumar Bose of Jagannath University; Advisor Prof. Faez Mohammed Serajul Hoque; and Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Science Prof. Dr. Syeda Afroza Zerin.

A major highlight of the event was the scholarly contribution of Dr. Sohana Mahboob, Professor of the Department of Bangla at Dhaka University, whose comprehensive analysis and eloquence resonated deeply with the attendees.
