Father Timm is no more!
Fr. R. W. Timm, the 6th Principal of Notre Dame College died in Holy Cross House, University of Notre Dame, Indiana, USA on September 11, 2020 at the age of 97. Fr. Timm was born in March 2, 1923 in USA. He earned M. S. and Ph.D. in biology from the Catholic University in USA. He arrived in Dhaka in 1952 and was assigned to found Science department at newly established Notre Dame College. Fr. Timm also founded three clubs at Notre Dame College: Debating Club in 1953, Science Club in 1955 and Adventure Club in 1966. These clubs are known as oldest clubs in the country. For his outstanding contributions at Notre Dame College, a six stories building was dedicated and named as “ Fr. Timm Bhaban”. Fr. Timm himself was present during the dedication ceremony in December 2015. Fr. Timm lived in Bangladesh more than 60 years and gave outstanding example of love and service in the field of education and social justice. He was well known as scientist, teacher, an intellectual, social worker, good speaker, good writer and above all a great man with a great soul. I am sure Fr. Timm touched the lives of many students and the people of Bangladesh. He will be remembered many years to come. Let us pray to Almighty God for his Eternal Rest and Peace.
