Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of North South University, joined a distinguished delegation at the VIP Lounge of Islamabad International Airport on May 17 during an official visit to Pakistan, organized at the invitation of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. The delegation included UGC Chairman Prof. Mamun Ahmed, Members of the University Grants Commission, and Vice-Chancellors of other universities.

What do Bangladesh’s remittance fighters expect from the new government?
In his latest Prothom Alo column, Dr. Selim Reza, Associate Professor of the Department of Political Science and Sociology and Coordinator of the Center for Migration Studies, North South University, reflects on the expectations of Bangladeshi migrant workers from the BNP government in its first 100 days.
The article highlights urgent concerns in the migration sector, including high migration costs, broker exploitation, limited access to skilled jobs, shrinking labour markets, weak embassy support, and the need for safer, faster, and more affordable remittance channels.

North South University (NSU) hosts the Summer Orientation 2026 today at the NSU Plaza Area, warmly welcoming newly admitted students to the NSU community as they begin their academic journey.

Mr. Mahdi Amin, Hon’ble Adviser to the Prime Minister of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, responsible for the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, and Ministry of Labour and Employment, graced the program as the Chief Guest.

The orientation program has introduced the new students to NSU’s academic environment, campus culture, and opportunities for learning, research, innovation, and extracurricular engagement.
