Safeguarding Awareness Training Session at BUBT

A training session on “Safeguarding Awareness against Gender-Based Violence, Sexual Harassment and Bullying through Policy, Procedures, and Work Instructions” was held today at Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT), organized under the BRAC SHIKHA Project, as per the instruction of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of BUBT.

Employees from the HR and Admin offices of BUBT participated in the session, which aimed to strengthen awareness and understanding of safeguarding practices and promote a safe, respectful, inclusive, and supportive environment within the university community.

The session was inaugurated with an insightful speech by Prof. Dr. Syed Sarfaraj Hamid, Dean, Faculty of Law, BUBT. The training was subsequently conducted by Mr. Rashed Uz Zaman Bhuiyan, Senior Specialist, Social Compliance, Social Compliance Programme, BRAC, and Mr. Abdullah Al Mamun, Senior Specialist, Social Compliance, Social Compliance Programme, BRAC.

The session provided valuable insights into the prevention and addressing of gender-based violence, sexual harassment, and bullying, with emphasis on relevant policies, procedures, work instructions, and the shared responsibility of employees in fostering a safe and dignified environment.

The initiative reflects the commitment of BUBT and BRAC SHIKHA to promote awareness, professional integrity, respect, safety, and inclusivity in institutional environments.

Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) extends its heartiest congratulations to Mahfuza Akter Zarin, a student of the 44th Intake of the CSE Department, on securing the prestigious Fully Funded Chinese Government Scholarship.

Through this remarkable achievement, Zarin will pursue her Master’s degree in Computer Science and Technology at Anhui University of Science and Technology (AUST), China.

During her time at BUBT, Mahfuza demonstrated outstanding academic performance and served as a dedicated Teaching Assistant (TA) in the CSE Department. Her journey reflects hard work, perseverance and academic excellence.

ইসলামের দৃষ্টিতে শিক্ষকের দায়িত্ববোধ ও শিক্ষার্থীদের নৈতিক ও মানবিক মূল্যবোধ বিকাশের ওপর গুরুত্বারোপ করে বাংলাদেশ ইউনিভার্সিটি অব বিজনেস অ্যান্ড টেকনোলজি (বিইউবিটি)-তে ‘ইসলামের দৃষ্টিতে শিক্ষকের দায়িত্ববোধ’ শীর্ষক সেমিনার অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে।

সোমবার (৭ সেপ্টেম্বর) বিকেল ৩টায় বিইউবিটির আন্তর্জাতিক সম্মেলন কেন্দ্রে এ সেমিনারের আয়োজন করা হয়। অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন বিইউবিটির উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক ড. এ বি এম শওকত আলী। আলোচক হিসেবে বক্তব্য দেন হাফেজ মাওলানা মো. মোশারফ হোসাইন ইমাম ও খতিব, মিরপুর ডিওএইচএস জামে মসজিদ, ঢাকা।

সেমিনারে শিক্ষকের দায়িত্বকে শুধু পাঠদান ও একাডেমিক কার্যক্রমের মধ্যে সীমাবদ্ধ না রেখে শিক্ষার্থীদের নৈতিকতা, মানবিকতা ও মূল্যবোধ গঠনে শিক্ষকের ভূমিকার ওপর গুরুত্ব দেওয়া হয়। আলোচনায় বলা হয়, একজন শিক্ষক শিক্ষার্থীর জ্ঞানার্জনের পাশাপাশি তাঁর চরিত্র, আচরণ ও জীবনদর্শন গঠনে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করেন। ইসলামের দৃষ্টিতে শিক্ষকতা একটি মহান দায়িত্ব; তাই শিক্ষকের জ্ঞান, নৈতিকতা, আচরণ ও দায়িত্বশীলতার মাধ্যমে শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য আদর্শ হয়ে ওঠার প্রয়োজন রয়েছে।

প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে বিইউবিটির উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক ড. এ বি এম শওকত আলী বলেন, “শিক্ষার মূল উদ্দেশ্য শুধু জ্ঞান অর্জন নয়; জ্ঞানকে মানবিকতা, নৈতিকতা ও দায়িত্ববোধের সঙ্গে যুক্ত করাই প্রকৃত শিক্ষার লক্ষ্য। একজন শিক্ষক তাঁর আচরণ ও মূল্যবোধের মাধ্যমে শিক্ষার্থীদের জীবনে দীর্ঘস্থায়ী প্রভাব ফেলতে পারেন।” তিনি আরও বলেন, “একটি নৈতিক ও দায়িত্বশীল প্রজন্ম গড়ে তুলতে শিক্ষক, পরিবার ও শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠানকে সম্মিলিতভাবে কাজ করতে হবে।”

আলোচক হাফেজ মাওলানা মো. মোশারফ হোসাইন তাঁর বক্তব্যে ইসলামে শিক্ষকের মর্যাদা ও দায়িত্বের বিভিন্ন দিক তুলে ধরেন। তিনি বলেন, “ইসলামে শিক্ষকতা অত্যন্ত মর্যাদাপূর্ণ একটি দায়িত্ব। একজন শিক্ষক শুধু জ্ঞান প্রদান করেন না, তিনি শিক্ষার্থীদের সঠিক পথ দেখান এবং তাঁদের চরিত্র গঠনে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখেন।” তিনি শিক্ষকদের নিষ্ঠা, আমানতদারিতা, ন্যায়পরায়ণতা ও শিক্ষার্থীদের প্রতি দায়িত্বশীল আচরণের ওপর বিশেষ গুরুত্বারোপ করেন।

সেমিনারে বিইউবিটির বিভিন্ন বিভাগের শিক্ষক, কর্মকর্তা ও সংশ্লিষ্ট ব্যক্তিরা উপস্থিত ছিলেন। আয়োজনের মাধ্যমে শিক্ষকদের পেশাগত দায়িত্বের পাশাপাশি নৈতিক ও মানবিক দায়িত্ব সম্পর্কে সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি এবং শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য একটি মূল্যবোধভিত্তিক শিক্ষার পরিবেশ তৈরির গুরুত্ব তুলে ধরা হয়।

BUBT Students' Underwater Robot "TORI" Wins Gold Medal at Fibonacci International Robot Olympiad 2026 National Round, hosted at UIU

In a proud moment for Bangladesh's robotics and technology community, a team of students from Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) has won the Gold Medal in the Blue Tech category at the Fibonacci International Robot Olympiad 2026 – National Round. The team, competing under the name “BUBT-TORI,” secured the award with Project TORI, a low-cost semi-autonomous underwater vehicle developed through the BUBT Innovation Hub. Team BUBT-TORI will now represent Bangladesh at the international stage in Rome, Italy, in late November 2026.

The success of Project TORI stands as a testament to the talent and dedication of Team BUBT-TORI, led by Md Sajidul Islam Samin. At the core of the project’s technological development was the research and development team, comprising Abdur Rahman Sifat, Mosharef Hossain, and Amir Hamza . Managing the team’s public outreach and digital footprint, Fazla Rabbi served as the Media and Communication Lead, supported by Tanvir Ahmed Sifat, who handled visual storytelling as Video Editor. Executive Member Md Aslam Hossain, rounding out the dynamic team behind this achievement.

The project behind this win, TORI Lo-sAUV, is an affordable semi-autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). Conventional commercial and research-grade underwater vehicles are typically expensive, requiring multiple thrusters, advanced navigation systems, and specialized sensing equipment. TORI was built to close this technological and economic gap, giving students, researchers, and small organizations access to underwater robotics research at a fraction of the usual cost. TORI Lo-sAUV was designed primarily for shallow-water inspection and research, it stays in continuous communication with a Ground Control Station (GCS), allowing a human operator to monitor and control the vehicle while onboard autonomous systems handle safety, sensing, and obstacle avoidance.

The national round of the Fibonacci International Robot Olympiad 2026 was held on Friday, 4 September 2026, at United International University (UIU), Dhaka. The event was attended by notable guests, including Alexandra A. Khlevnoy, Director of the Russian House in Dhaka and First Secretary at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bangladesh; Nurul Haque Nur, Member of Parliament and State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment; and Muhammed Mehdi Hasan Chowdhury, Head of Sales at BSRM Steels Ltd./BSRM Group of Companies.

The Gold Medal won by Team BUBT-TORI stands as a strong testament to the innovative spirit and technical capability of BUBT's students. University authorities have expressed pride in the team's achievement and extended their wishes for continued success on both national and international platforms in the years ahead.

Workshop on Effective CO Writing & Assessment for OBE

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics, BUBT, successfully organized a workshop titled “Effective CO Writing & Assessment for OBE” on September 3, 2026, at the Seminar Room, 9th Floor, MSM (Building-2), BUBT. The workshop focused on strengthening faculty understanding of effective Course Outcome (CO) writing and assessment practices in line with Outcome-Based Education (OBE).

The session featured Prof. Dr. Munshi Mahbubur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Sciences & Engineering, BUBT, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Muhammad Aminur Rahaman, Dean, Faculty of Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence, BUBT, as the Keynote Speaker.
