German University Bangladesh (GUB) has been approved by the Government of Bangladesh and the UGC (University Grants Commission). The idea to establish “German University Bangladesh” first came from Professor Dr.-Ing. Saifullah Khandker, a Bangladeshi who went to Germany for higher studies. ker is the founder of “German University Bangladesh” which is a distinguished landmark in higher education. To this back-drop, it may be mentioned here that the present day scenario on Higher Education System in Bangladesh was presented at a seminar organized by “Initiative German University Bangladesh i.e. IGUB e.V., www.igub.org” wherein the idea for the establishment of GUB was confirmed. was founded by a group of highly qualified German Professors of different German Universities headed by Professor Dr.-Ing. was registered in 2007 in Berlin, Germany. GUB has been governed by the GUB Board of Trustees (GUBT) consisting of 13 members. GUBT was registered in Bangladesh on 16 January 2012. Professor Dr.-Ing. Saifullah Khandker is the founder Chairman of the GUBT. For quit a long time he was concurrently holding the post of Vice-Chancellor of GUB. The nature of GUB, GUBT and IGUB are education oriented, non-profitable, non-government, nonpolitical and voluntary. The members of Board of Trustees belong to a group of Bangladeshi young and dynamic entrepreneurs and intellectuals. The Trust has been registered in 2012 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The “Initiative German University Bangladesh i.e. (IGUB)” was founded by a group of highly qualified German Professors of different German Universities headed by Professor Dr.-Ing. Saifullah Khandker, a Bangladeshi who turned German and registered in 2007 in Berlin, Germany. Both organizations, IGUB and GUBT have already signed an agreement in April 2012. Main aim of IGUB & GUBT is to establish a fully residential “German University Bangladesh [GUB]” in Bangladesh with association of leading German Universities. Initially we are starting the University at Gazipur near Dhaka. When fully commissioned it would be built on two and a half Hector Land and would ultimately sit at a peaceful campus skirted by forest land at Guptabrindaban, Shagardighi ca. 100 km northwest from Dhaka under Upazila Ghatail, District Tangail. GUB will be a specialized university with precise and specific purpose of developing skilled manpower in disciplines that would be mostly needed in the immediate future to address the complex global economic, health and environmental anomalies of the 21st century. The University will help to develop faculties and techniques in a student to take up the challenges in the frontiers of the future with German precision. Mission & Vision:
The prime objective of this specialized University will be - to introduce quality education and expand of some yet unexplored nontraditional scientific fields into the Bangladeshi educational curriculum, particularly: Environment Protection Technology, Food Science and Bio-Technology, Agricultural Science & Technology, Bio-Engineering and Medicine (Veterinary medicine and Public Health). These study fields will be categorized in 4-faculties and subdivided under more than 20 departments. Moreover, German experienced Professors will be responsible to maintain the Standard and Quality of Education as well as for the accreditation of Degrees of this University according to European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). The first Vice Chancellor will be Professor Dr. vet. Leo Brunnberg, a highly experienced German Professor. Ultimately the University shall serve for building up a reservoir of highly skilled, scientific and technical manpower according to the global needs. জার্মান ইউনিভার্সিটি বাংলাদেশ-এর সামার সেমিস্টার ২০২৬ উপলক্ষে (১৫ মে ২০২৬) বৃহস্পতিবার বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অডিটোরিয়ামে ওরিয়েন্টেশন প্রোগ্রাম অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। অনুষ্ঠানে নবীন শিক্ষার্থীদের আন্তরিকভাবে স্বাগত জানানো হয়। পবিত্র কোরআন থেকে তেলাওয়াত ও গীতা পাঠের মাধ্যমে অনুষ্ঠানের সূচনা করা হয়।ওরিয়েন্টেশন প্রোগ্রাম সামার-২০২৬ কমিটির আহ্বায়ক মো. সাইফুল ইসলাম, সহযোগী অধ্যাপক ও বিভাগীয় প্রধান (ব্যবসায় প্রশাসন বিভাগ), শিক্ষার্থীদের উদ্দেশ্যে স্বাগত বক্তব্য প্রদান করেন।
অনুষ্ঠানে বায়ো অ্যান্ড হেলথ সায়েন্স অনুষদের ডীন, প্রফেসর ড. মুহঃ শাহজাহান বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের একটি সংক্ষিপ্ত পরিচিতিমূলক পাওয়ার প্রেজেন্টেশনের মাধ্যমে শিক্ষার্থীদের ক্যাম্পাস, একাডেমিক কাঠামো ও সুযোগ-সুবিধা সম্পর্কে ধারণা দেন। ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং সায়েন্সেস অনুষদের ডীন, প্রফেসর ড. এস. এম. ইকবাল হোসেন, তাঁর বক্তব্যে বেসরকারী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় আইন-২০১০ অনুযায়ী প্রত্যন্ত অঞ্চলের আর্থিকভাবে অসচ্ছল শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য বিনামূল্যে শিক্ষার সুযোগ এবং বিভিন্ন পর্যায়ে বৃত্তি প্রদানের বিষয়টি বিস্তারিতভাবে তুলে ধরেন।
প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন বাংলাদেশ অ্যাক্রেডিটেশন কাউন্সিলের চেয়ারম্যান প্রফেসর ড. মেসবাহউদ্দিন আহমেদ। তিনি তাঁর বক্তব্যে বলেন, “সবাইকে স্বাগত জানাই। উন্নত শিক্ষার মাধ্যমে সবার জীবনমান উন্নত হোক—এটাই আমাদের প্রত্যাশা। তাই শিক্ষার মানোন্নয়নে Learning, Skill, Attitude Change, Socialization এবং Communication—এই ডোমেইনগুলো উন্নয়নের মাধ্যমে নিজেদের সমৃদ্ধ করতে হবে।”
অনুষ্ঠানের সভাপতিত্ব করেন প্রফেসর ড. সঞ্জয় কুমার অধিকারী, উপাচার্য, জার্মান ইউনিভার্সিটি বাংলাদেশ। তিনি তাঁর বক্তব্যে বলেন,“শিক্ষার মাধ্যমে আচরণে ইতিবাচক পরিবর্তনই শিক্ষার প্রকৃত সার্থকতা। আমরা চাই তোমরা জ্ঞানভিত্তিক সমাজ গঠনে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখবে এবং দেশের ও সমাজের উন্নয়নে অবদান রাখবে।”

অনুষ্ঠানে বিভিন্ন অনুষদের ডীন, প্রক্টর, বিভাগীয় প্রধানগণ ও প্রশাসনিক কর্মকর্তাবৃন্দ উপস্থিত থেকে শিক্ষার্থীদের একাডেমিক দিকনির্দেশনা প্রদান করেন। কোর্স রেজিস্ট্রেশন, পরীক্ষা পদ্ধতি, ওয়েবসাইট ও স্টুডেন্ট পোর্টাল, সহশিক্ষা কার্যক্রম এবং ক্যারিয়ার উন্নয়ন সংক্রান্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয়গুলো তুলে ধরা হয়।
উল্লেখ্য, এই ওরিয়েন্টেশন অনুষ্ঠানের মাধ্যমে নবাগত শিক্ষার্থীরা তাদের বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় জীবনের নতুন যাত্রা শুরু করে এবং একটি সম্ভাবনাময় ভবিষ্যতের প্রত্যাশা ব্যক্ত করে।

𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 & 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐐𝐀𝐂 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠
The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of German University Bangladesh (GUB) successfully concluded its faculty development training program, which commenced on 5 January 2026 and ended on 7 May 2026. The training program consisted of 12 sessions focusing on quality enhancement, academic development teaching excellence and research.
The concluding session of the training program was held at the GUB Auditorium and was presided over by the Honorable Vice Chancellor of GUB Professor Dr. Sanjoy Kumar Adhikary. Prof. Dr. Razib Lochan Das, Additional Director, IQAC, IUBAT attended the program as the special guest. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of research methodology in higher education and encouraged faculty members to strengthen their research skills for academic and professional advancement.
Among the speakers, Prof. S. M. Iqbal Hossain, Dean, GUB highly appreciated IQAC for organizing such a comprehensive and timely training program for the faculty members. Prof. Dr. Md. Shahjahan, Director, IQAC highlighted the importance of continuous quality improvement in achieving academic excellence and ensuring sustainable institutional development.
In his concluding remarks, the Honorable Vice Chancellor of GUB Professor Dr. Sanjoy Kumar Adhikary, appreciated the active participation of the faculty members throughout the training sessions and emphasized the university’s commitment to maintaining quality education and institutional excellence through continuous professional development initiatives. After concluding remarks, the honorable Vice Chancellor distributed the certificate of participation among the faculty members.

Report on IQAC Training Program
The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of German University Bangladesh (GUB) organized a training program on “BAC Accreditation Standards and Criteria” at the Auditorium of German University Bangladesh (GUB) on 5th May 2026 as part of the university’s faculty development initiative.
The presentation was delivered by the Director, IQAC Professor Dr. Md. Shahjahan. He highlighted the importance of the accreditation framework of the Bangladesh Accreditation Council in ensuring quality assurance in higher education institutions. He further elaborated on the 10 standards and 63 criteria developed by BAC, explaining their application in areas such as academic program evaluation, institutional governance, curriculum design, teaching-learning processes, faculty development, and student assessment.
Faculty members actively participated in the discussion and shared their insights and experiences regarding the implementation of accreditation requirements within their respective departments.
In his concluding remarks the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Sanjoy Kumar Adhikary encouraged faculty members to actively engage in the accreditation process and to integrate quality assurance practices into their teaching, learning, and assessment activities.

Report on IQAC Training Program
The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of German University Bangladesh (GUB) organized a faculty development training session on “Basics of Research Methodology” on 7 May 2026 at GUB Auditorium as part of the university’s continuous efforts to promote quality education, academic excellence, and research culture among faculty members. The session was conducted by Prof. Dr. Rajib Lochan Das, Additional Director, IQAC, IUBAT.
In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Rajib Lochan Das emphasized the significance of research in academic and professional life at the university level. He discussed different types of research, including basic, applied, qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method research. Prof. Das elaborated on various research approaches and methods of data collection, including surveys, interviews, questionnaires, observations, and experimental techniques.
The session was interactive and insightful, with faculty members actively participating in discussions on research practices, and challenges related to conducting research at the university level.
In his concluding remarks, the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of GUB, Professor Dr. Sanjoy Kumar Adhikary, emphasized the importance of developing a strong research culture within the university. Report on IQAC Training Program
The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of German University Bangladesh (GUB) organized a training program on “Accreditation: Concept and Process” at GUB Auditorium as part of the faculty training program of German University Bangladesh on 27 April 2026. The session was conducted by Prof. Dr. Sanjoy Kumar Adhikary, Vice Chancellor of the university.
In his presentation, Prof. Adhikary emphasized that accreditation is an internationally recognized quality assurance mechanism that promotes academic excellence, accountability, transparency, and continuous quality improvement in higher education institutions.
The speaker also discussed the role of accreditation in strengthening institutional governance, curriculum development, faculty competency, student support services, research culture, and outcome-based education practices. He provided a detailed overview of the accreditation process of the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC).
During the interactive session, faculty members actively participated through questions and discussions regarding accreditation criteria, implementation challenges, and institutional preparedness. The Vice Chancellor encouraged all faculty members to work collaboratively toward achieving accreditation standards and fostering a sustainable quality culture within the university.

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of German University Bangladesh (GUB) organized a training program on “Self-Assessment Process for Academic Programs” for the faculty members of German University Bangladesh (GUB) on 22 April 2026 at GUB Auditorium. The session was conducted by Prof. Dr. Md. Shahjahan, Director, IQAC, GUB. In his presentation, Prof. Shahjahan elaborated on the concept, significance, and procedures of the self-assessment process in higher education institutions. The discussion covered the preparation of self-assessment reports (SAR), collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, stakeholder surveys, peer review activities, identification of strengths and weaknesses, and formulation of improvement plans based on assessment findings.
Prof. Shahjahan also highlighted the responsibilities and functions of the committees and bodies involved in the quality assurance process, including- Program Offering Entity (POE), Program Self-Assessment Committee (PSAC), Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Quality Assurance Committee (QAC).
The session was highly interactive and informative. Faculty members actively participated in the discussions and exchanged views on quality assurance practices, accreditation requirements, and strategies for continuous academic improvement.
