The Department of Architecture at Gopalganj Science and Technology University (GSTU) successfully organized a two-day academic workshop and knowledge-sharing program on 15–16 May 2026, centered around “Urban Theory” and contemporary urban discourse. The event featured special classes for fourth-year students, interactive seminar sessions for all the students of the department, and a city walk where students, architects, and urban planning experts collectively explored and analyzed the urban fabric and public spaces of Gopalganj city.
The program was enriched by the participation of distinguished architects and urban planning professionals, including Dr. Khurshid Jabin Hossain Toufiq, former Director of the Urban Development Directorate; Aga Khan Award-winning architect Ar. Khandkar Hasibul Kabir, Principal Architect of Co Creation Architects; Ar. Naim Ahmed Kibria, Principal Architect of Indigenous; and Planner Mostafa Atikul Majid of Vitti Sthapati Brindo Ltd. Planner Tasfin Aziz from BRAC University also joined the program as a special guest.
The Knowledge Sharing Seminar was honored by the presence of the Honorable Vice Chancellor of GSTU, Professor Dr. Hossain Uddin Shekhar, and the Honorable Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Sohel Hasan, whose encouraging remarks inspired the students and participants.
Through lectures, discussions, workshops, and the city walk, the program created a vibrant platform for exchanging ideas, professional experiences, and contemporary perspectives on urbanism and architecture. The Department of Architecture believes that such initiatives play a significant role in enriching students’ academic understanding, critical thinking, and professional outlook.
