আজ ২১শে ফেব্রুয়ারি মহান শহিদ দিবস ও আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস উপলক্ষে ১৯৫২-এর ভাষা আন্দোলনের শহীদদের গভীর শ্রদ্ধায় স্মরণ করে রাজশাহী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের কেন্দ্রীয় শহীদ মিনারে প্রভাত ফেরীতে অংশগ্রহণ করে রাজশাহী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ছায়া জাতিসংঘ সংস্থা। এসময় সংগঠনের পক্ষ থেকে কেন্দ্রীয় শহীদ মিনারে পুষ্পস্তবক অর্পণের মাধ্যমে ভাষা শহীদদের প্রতি বিনম্র শ্রদ্ধা নিবেদন করা হয়।

পরে ভাষা আন্দোলনের শহীদদের আত্মদান ও বাংলা ভাষার মর্যাদা রক্ষার সংগ্রামকে সম্মান জানিয়ে এক মিনিট নীরবতা পালন করা হয়।

ভাষার জন্য আত্মত্যাগ আমাদের শিখিয়েছে নিজের সংস্কৃতি, পরিচয় ও অধিকার রক্ষার অদম্য সাহস। মহান ভাষা শহীদদের আদর্শ আমাদের প্রজন্মকে সত্য, ন্যায় ও মানবিক মূল্যবোধে অনুপ্রাণিত করে যাবে চিরকাল।

২১শে ফেব্রুয়ারি, মহান আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা ও মহান শহীদ দিবস, আমাদের আত্মপরিচয়, অধিকারচেতনা ও সাংস্কৃতিক মর্যাদার এক অবিচ্ছেদ্য অংশ। ১৯৫২ সালের এই দিনে মাতৃভাষা বাংলার স্বীকৃতির দাবিতে যে ঐতিহাসিক আত্মত্যাগ সংঘটিত হয়েছিল, তা শুধু বাংলাদেশের ইতিহাসেই নয়, বিশ্ব ইতিহাসেও ভাষা অধিকারের অনন্য দৃষ্টান্ত হয়ে আছে। পরবর্তীতে এই ত্যাগের স্বীকৃতিস্বরূপ UNESCO ১৯৯৯ সালে ২১শে ফেব্রুয়ারিকে আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস হিসেবে ঘোষণা করে, যা ২০০০ সাল থেকে বিশ্বব্যাপী পালিত হয়ে আসছে।

ভাষা আন্দোলনের বীর শহীদদের রক্তের বিনিময়ে আমরা ফিরে পেয়েছি বাংলা ভাষার ন্যায্য মর্যাদা। তাদের সাহস, দৃঢ়তা ও আত্মত্যাগ আমাদের শিখিয়েছে যা নিজস্ব ভাষা ও সংস্কৃতির জন্য সংগ্রাম কখনো বৃথা যায় না। মাতৃভাষা শুধু যোগাযোগের মাধ্যম নয়; এটি আমাদের চেতনা, ঐতিহ্য ও আত্মপরিচয়ের ভিত্তি।

রাজশাহী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ছায়া জাতিসংঘ সংস্থা (আরইউমুনা), ১৯৫২ সালের ভাষা আন্দোলনে আত্মত্যাগী সকল ভাষা শহীদদের প্রতি জানায় বিনম্র শ্রদ্ধা ও গভীর কৃতজ্ঞতা।

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is a holy and cherished time for Muslims around the world. It is observed through fasting (sawm), prayer (salah), reflection, and stronger bonds within the community. This sacred month marks the revelation of the Holy Qur’an to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), making it one of the most significant and spiritually uplifting periods in Islam. As one of the Five Pillars of Islam, Ramadan unites the global Muslim Ummah in devotion, discipline, and faith.

The significance of Ramadan goes far beyond abstaining from food and drink. It is a profound journey of self-reflection, spiritual renewal, and compassion for those in need. This month encourages patience, gratitude, forgiveness, and a deeper connection with Allah (SWT), fostering inner peace and moral growth.

Rajshahi University Model United Nations Association (RUMUNA) extends its warmest wishes for a blessed and peaceful Ramadan. May this holy month bring strength, inspiration, and happiness to all.

‘আমি বলছি গুলিবর্ষণ হবে না। আর যদি গুলি করা হয়, তবে কোনো ছাত্রের গায়ে লাগার আগে তা আমার গায়ে লাগবে।’
১৯৬৯ সালের গণঅভ্যুত্থানের উত্তাল সময়ে ১৪৪ ধারার বিরোধিতা করে এই অমর উচ্চারণ করেছিলেন সৈয়দ মোহাম্মদ শামসুজ্জোহা। তিনি ছিলেন রাজশাহী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় এর রসায়ন বিভাগের সহযোগী অধ্যাপক ও তৎকালীন প্রক্টর।
১৮ ফেব্রুয়ারি ১৯৬৯ সালে শিক্ষার্থীদের রক্ষায় নিজেকে ঢাল হিসেবে দাঁড় করিয়ে পাকিস্তানি বাহিনীর গুলিতে শহীদ হন তিনি। তাঁর আত্মত্যাগ শিক্ষকতা পেশাকে দিয়েছে এক অনন্য মর্যাদা, আর শিক্ষার্থীদের প্রতি দায়িত্ববোধের এক উজ্জ্বল দৃষ্টান্ত।
এই আত্মত্যাগের স্মরণে রাজশাহী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রতিবছর ১৮ ফেব্রুয়ারি ‘মহান শিক্ষক দিবস’ হিসেবে পালন করে।
রাজশাহী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ছায়া জাতিসংঘ সংস্থা (আরইউমুনা) গভীর শ্রদ্ধার সঙ্গে জোহা স্যারের মহান আত্মত্যাগ স্মরণ করে এবং তাঁর আদর্শে দেশপ্রেম, ন্যায় ও দায়িত্ববোধে অবিচল থাকার প্রত্যয় ব্যক্ত করে।

Shab-e-Barat, also known as Laylat al-Baraat—the Night of Forgiveness, it is a sacred night in Islam, observed on the 15th night of the blessed month of Sha’ban. This night holds immense spiritual significance and is believed to be filled with divine mercy and blessings.

On this night, Muslims turn to worship, seeking forgiveness for past sins and praying for Allah’s infinite mercy. It is widely believed that Allah decrees matters of life, death, and sustenance for the coming year on Shab-e-Barat. Many spend the night in prayer, recitation of the Holy Qur’an, and heartfelt supplication.

As we observe this blessed night, let us pray for forgiveness, guidance, and mercy. May Shab-e-Barat bring peace to our hearts, strength to our faith, and success in this life and the hereafter.

Rajshahi University Model United Nations Association successfully organized a MUN Literacy Workshop at the Bir Muktijoddha Aminul Islam Dulal Auditorium of Bogura Zilla School, in collaboration with the Bogura Zilla School Debate Club.

The program was inaugurated through a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Assistant Head Teacher Mr. Ratan Kumar Mohonto. The workshop sessions were conducted by Subradeb Chakma, President of the Rajshahi University Model United Nations Association, and Mukit Alam, Director of Branding and Publication of RUMUNA, who engaged and guided aspiring delegates into the world of Model United Nations.

With enthusiastic participation from students of Bogura Zilla School, Bogura Government Girls’ High School, Police Lines School & College, Unique Public School & College, Millennium Scholastic School & College, and Bogura Cantonment Public School & College, the workshop turned into an enriching learning experience.

We also extend our sincere gratitude to Bogura Zilla School for their support in organizing this amazing workshop.

According to the Hindu calendar, today is observed as Saraswati Puja, a sacred day dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, wisdom, and learning.

The festival signifies the pursuit of education, creativity, and intellectual growth. Devotees offer prayers at temples and educational institutions, seeking blessings for wisdom and enlightenment. Saraswati Puja is celebrated in diverse ways across different regions and also marks the beginning of preparations for Holika and Holi, observed forty days later.

On this auspicious occasion, Rajshahi University Model United Nations Association (RUMUNA) extends its heartfelt greetings to everyone. May the divine blessings of Goddess Saraswati guide us toward knowledge, clarity, and success.
