Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (Bengali: রাজশাহী প্রকৌশল ও প্রযুক্তি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ), formerly named Bangladesh Institute of Technology-Rajshahi, is an engineering university in Rajshahi, Bangladesh. RUET is a university with about 2500 students and ten academic departments but a strong emphasis in theoretical, applied, and interdisciplinary scientific and technological educati

on. The university undertakes research works sponsored by local industries and national/international organizations, such as United Nations organizations, Commonwealth Foundation, University Grants Commission, etc. As a center of excellence, RUET is not only continuing as the focal point for the development and dissemination of engineering and technological know-how in the country, but it is also involved in solving complicated practical problems of national importance faced by the planners, engineers and technologists. Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology opened as full-fledged university in September 2003 and has become one of the five technological universities in Bangladesh. The university has continued to expand with the construction of new academic buildings, auditorium complex, halls of residence, etc.

Farewell & Freshers' Reception 2025 | Department of Urban & Regional Planning, RUET

On June 26, 2025, the Department of Urban & Regional Planning (URP), RUET, hosted a memorable event to honor the outgoing Batch 19 and warmly welcome the newly admitted batch (23 & 24) of the BURP program. The event was organized by the URP Students’ Association of RUET (USAR), bringing together faculty members and students from all batches to celebrate transitions, achievements, and new beginnings.

We were privileged to have Professor Dr. Engr. S M Abdur Razzak, Honorable Vice Chancellor of RUET, as the Chief Guest. The event was further graced by the presence of Professor Dr. Md Rabiul Islam Sarker, Director of Students’ Welfare (DSW) and Treasurer Md. Shakil Ar Salan, Department of URP, RUET, as Special Guests. The program was chaired by Professor Dr. MST. Ilme Faridatul, Head of the Department of URP, RUET.

The event featured a heartfelt farewell segment for Batch 19, recognizing their dedication and contributions to the URP community, followed by the Freshers’ Reception to officially welcome the new batch (23 & 24). The celebration concluded with vibrant cultural performances by students, reflecting the creativity, unity, and spirit of the URP family.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Batch 19 and wish them success in all their future endeavors. At the same time, we warmly welcome the new batch as they begin their academic journey in urban and regional planning.

🌿 Stakeholder Consultation Workshop on Green Cities Initiative Pilot Project in Rajshahi 🌇

We are delighted to announce the successful completion of the Stakeholder Consultation Workshop on the Green City Initiative Pilot Project in Rajshahi! This impactful event was jointly organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Department of Urban & Regional Planning of Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET).

The workshop brought together a diverse group of stakeholders who are passionate about sustainable urban development and environmental conservation. It provided a platform for meaningful discussions, knowledge sharing, and collaboration to transform Rajshahi into a green and livable city.

During the workshop, participants engaged in insightful conversations on various aspects of the Green City Initiative. They explored strategies to promote resource efficiency, enhance urban biodiversity, and create a sustainable urban infrastructure that benefits both people and the environment.

We were honored to have distinguished speakers and experts from FAO, the Department of Urban & Regional Planning, RUET, as well as representatives from local government bodies, NGOs, and community organizations. Their expertise and valuable inputs played a pivotal role in shaping the discussions and inspiring innovative solutions.

The workshop emphasized the importance of stakeholder engagement and community involvement in driving sustainable change. It highlighted the significance of collaboration between government agencies, academic institutions, civil society organizations, and citizens to achieve our shared vision of a greener Rajshahi.

বিশ্ব নগর ও অঞ্চল পরিকল্পনা দিবস উপলক্ষে রাজশাহী প্রকৌশল ও প্রযুক্তি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় (রুয়েট)- এর নগর ও অঞ্চল পরিকল্পনা (ইউ আরপি) বিভাগের উদ্যোগে রুয়েট কেন্দ্রীয় অডিটোরিয়ামে ২৪ ও ২৫ নভেম্বর দুইদিন ব্যাপী “পরিকল্পনা উৎসব ২০২২” উদযাপন করা হয়। উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে নগর ও অঞ্চল পরিকল্পনা বিভাগের বিভাগীয় প্রধান অধ্যাপক ড. মো. কামরুজ্জামান রিপনের সভাপতিত্বে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে বক্তব্য রাখেন ভাইস-চ্যান্সেলর (অতিরিক্ত দায়িত্ব) অধ্যাপক ড. মো. সাজ্জাদ হোসেন। অনুষ্ঠানে বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে বক্তব্য রাখেন- রেজিস্ট্রার (ভারপ্রাপ্ত) অধ্যাপক ড. মো. সেলিম হোসেন, বাংলাদেশ ইন্সটিটিউট অব প্ল্যানার্স (বিআইপি) সভাপতি পরিকল্পনাবিদ ফজলে রেজা সুমন, রাজশাহী উন্নয়ন কর্তৃপক্ষ (আরডিএ) এর সহকারী টাউন প্ল্যানার মো. রাহেনুল ইসলাম রনি।

দুইদিন ব্যাপী অনুষ্ঠেয় এই উৎসবের বিভিন্ন সেশনে নানা কর্মসূচি নেয়া হয়। এর মধ্যে অনুষ্ঠানের উদ্বোধনী দিনে (২৪ নভেম্বর) প্রজেক্ট প্রদর্শনী প্রতিযোগিতা, পোস্টার ও আলোকচিত্র প্রদর্শন প্রতিযোগিতা, নকশা পরিকল্পনা উপস্থাপন প্রতিযোগিতা এবং সন্ধ্যায় ইউআরপি বিভাগের শিক্ষার্থীদের অংশগ্রহণে রুয়েট অডিটোরিয়ামে মনোজ্ঞ সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠান অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। এছাড়াও সমাপনী দিনে (২৫ নভেম্বর) ক্যারিয়ার বিষয়ক আলোচনা, নলেজ শেয়ারিং, ইউআরপি অ্যালামনাই এসোসিয়েশন গঠন করা হয়।
