We, the students of IBA BBA Batch 32nd, are taking a collective stand against sexual harassment within our community. Ishmam Arafat, a student of BBA Batch 32nd, has been found guilty of committing acts of sexual harassment against one of our classmates. Infuriatingly enough, he is also guilty of attempting to harass another classmate on the same given day. There are multiple witnesses to his behavior, and it has been proven beyond doubt that he is a sexual offender. To this day, he has shown no genuine remorse or accountability for his actions.
Initially, our silence came from a place of respect as the victim did not want this matter to become a source of further trauma or public spectacle. We understood and supported their decision. However, silence does not mean inaction, and it certainly does not mean impunity for the perpetrator. Protecting their peace cannot and will not come at the cost of justice. As the victim(s) have expressed their wishes to stay anonymous, we will not be answering any queries regarding their identities.
As a batch, we have therefore decided to boycott Ishmam Arafat completely from all batch activities, classes, events, and social spaces. He is no longer welcome in any group communications or shared environments involving Batch 32. This decision is not temporary or symbolic . Rather, it is our collective act of solidarity with the victim and our firm declaration that sexual harassment will never be tolerated or ignored within IBA.
We demand accountability and integrity in our community. Our batch stands united in ensuring that IBA remains a safe space for every student, especially for the victims who have to endure the weight of fear, trauma, and silence far too often. Justice begins with courage, and today, we choose to act with it.
