# The 5 I’s of The Fraternal Order of Eagles – Philippine Eagles, Inc.

The **5 I’s** serve as the official process and foundation in preparing an individual to become a true and responsible member of the fraternity. It is not only a membership procedure, but also a journey of understanding the principles of **Eagleism, Brotherhood, Leadership, and Service**.

# # 1. Interview

The **Interview** is the first step in evaluating a prospective member.

During this stage:

* The applicant is screened by the Screening Committee or Jury.
* Background, character, intentions, and personal conduct are evaluated.
* The fraternity determines whether the applicant possesses good moral character and sincere intentions in joining the organization.
* The applicant is also informed about the mission, vision, and responsibilities of being an Eagle.

# # # Purpose:

To ensure that only deserving, responsible, and service-oriented individuals are accepted into the fraternity.

---

# # 2. Introduction

The **Introduction** formally presents the applicant to the club and brotherhood.

During this stage:

* The applicant is introduced during the General Membership Meeting (GMM).
* Members are given the opportunity to know the applicant personally.
* The applicant begins interacting with the fraternity and understanding the culture of brotherhood and respect.

# # # Purpose:

To establish familiarity, transparency, and acceptance within the organization.

---

# # 3. Initiation

The **Initiation** is the educational and preparatory stage of Eagle membership.

During this phase:

* The applicant studies and learns the principles of Eagleism.
* Memorization and understanding of important organizational fundamentals are required, such as:

* Eagles Pledge
* Universal Prayer
* Eagles Hymn
* Code of Ethics
* Organizational history and traditions
* Leadership, discipline, humility, and fraternity values are emphasized.

# # # Purpose:

To shape the applicant’s mindset and instill the true meaning of being an Eagle — “Service Through Strong Brotherhood.”

---

# # 4. Incubation

The **Incubation** period is the actual immersion into fraternity activities and responsibilities.

During this stage:

* The applicant actively attends GMMs, projects, outreach programs, and fellowship activities.
* Participation in community service and organizational events is observed.
* Members evaluate the applicant’s commitment, attitude, teamwork, and consistency.

# # # Purpose:

To develop active participation, responsibility, and dedication to the fraternity’s mission and community service.

---

# # 5. Induction

The **Induction** is the final and most important stage where the applicant officially becomes a full-fledged Eagle member.

During the induction:

* The applicant takes the formal oath of membership.
* The fraternity officially accepts the individual into the brotherhood.
* The new Eagle commits to uphold the organization’s constitution, principles, and code of conduct.

# # # Purpose:

To formally welcome and recognize the individual as a legitimate member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles – Philippine Eagles, Inc.

---

# Importance of the 5 I’s

The 5 I’s are important because they:

* Preserve the dignity and integrity of the fraternity.
* Ensure that members understand Eagleism before becoming full members.
* Promote discipline, accountability, and brotherhood.
* Strengthen unity through shared learning and service.
* Build responsible leaders committed to community service and humanitarian work.

---

# # Core Spirit Behind the 5 I’s

The process teaches every aspiring Eagle that membership is:

* not for personal gain,
* not for status,
* but for **service, leadership, brotherhood, and nation-building**.

It reflects the Eagles’ guiding principle:

> “Service Through Strong Brotherhood.”

And the organization’s belief that:

> “A strong brotherhood creates strong communities.”

“The Fraternal Order of Eagles, Philippine Eagles Inc.” is built on the spirit of volunteerism, brotherhood, service, and commitment. While no one is forced to join, becoming a member is a personal choice made with honor and sincerity. By signing up for membership, every Eagle not only gains the privilege of belonging to the fraternity, but also accepts the responsibilities that come with it.

Being a volunteer does not mean participation is only convenient when time permits. Membership carries a pledge — a commitment to uphold the principles, values, constitution, and objectives of the organization. It means being willing to support the fraternity through active participation, cooperation, respect for leadership, unity among members, and service to the community whenever possible.

As Eagles, we are expected to contribute not only our presence, but also our time, effort, ideas, and support for the betterment of the organization and the people we serve. Responsibility as a member includes attending meetings and activities, promoting camaraderie, protecting the good name of the fraternity, and living by the ideals of “Service Through Strong Brotherhood.”

For example, in a WhatsApp group chat created for official communication, announcements, coordination, and fraternity discussions, every member is encouraged to participate in one way or another. Participation does not always mean being active every hour, but at least showing acknowledgment, responding when necessary, reacting to important announcements, or supporting activities and events whenever possible.

If a member consistently remains inactive, never responds, never reacts, and never participates in discussions or activities for a long period of time, despite repeated reminders and opportunities, the organization may decide to remove that member from the group chat out of fairness and practicality. This action should not be taken as personal hatred or disrespect, but rather as part of maintaining active communication and responsible membership within the fraternity.

Furthermore, issues that may result in misunderstandings, conflicts, arguments, or unnecessary tension among members should always be discussed through the proper and appropriate channels. Members are encouraged to observe professionalism, respect, and fraternity decorum in all communications. Public confrontations, disrespectful exchanges, or creating division within the group chat are strongly discouraged. Any violation of these guidelines may result in appropriate action, disciplinary measures, or removal from the group chat in order to maintain unity, order, and a healthy communication environment within the organization.

We must understand that communication platforms are created for unity, coordination, and participation. If someone chooses not to engage at all, even minimally, then it becomes difficult to fulfill the purpose of the group. As members, we should also respect decisions made for the welfare and functionality of the organization.

True brotherhood is not only about carrying the name of an Eagle, but also about participating, communicating, supporting one another, and sharing responsibility in strengthening the fraternity.
