From borders to history, from culture to connection

Our excursion to Ouidah Gate of No Return was more than just a trip, it was a moment of learning, reflection, and cultural expression.

As students listened to the powerful history behind the historic site, voices from different backgrounds came together to speak about the excursion and ESAE University in Igbo, Idoma, Fon, Goun, Okpe, Pidgin English, and French.

Different languages, different cultures, one unforgettable experience.

History lives where people remember, learn, and share together.

Before crossing into Togo, our academic excursion took a meaningful pause at the Point of No Return; the historic Porte du Non-Retour in Ouidah, Bénin.

This is the final spot where millions of enslaved Africans were loaded onto ships to the Americas and the Western world, never to return.

Some lessons cannot be taught in a lecture hall. ESAE Bénin University, learning with purpose.
