Le 30 mars, EPBC a eu l’honneur d’accueillir le juge en chef Richard Wagner lors d’une cérémonie de reconnaissance des bénévoles organisée par notre section de l’Université de Calgary.

Au cours de cet événement, il a remis le Prix du juge en chef Richard Wagner 2026 à Thao Nguyen, étudiante en troisième année de droit. Le leadership et l’esprit d’initiative de Thao ont permis la mise en place d’un projet d’aide à la rédaction de testaments et d’un programme d’aide au logement en collaboration avec l’Association des femmes vietnamiennes de Calgary.

Ce prix récompense les étudiant·e·s bénévoles exceptionnel·le·s d’EPBC qui font preuve d’un leadership remarquable et d’un engagement à faire avancer notre mission, qui consiste à fournir une aide juridique gratuite aux personnes et aux communautés confrontées à des obstacles à l’accès à la justice.

Dans son allocution, le juge en chef Wagner a partagé une réflexion poignante sur le dévouement des étudiant·e·s d’EPBC : « L’espoir n’est pas ce que l’on ressent avant d’agir. Il s’affirme parce que l’on agit. Merci pour l'exemple que vous donnez. Merci également pour votre dévouement au service des autres, pour votre engagement envers votre communauté et pour nous rappeler ce que signifie véritablement cultiver l’espoir. »
