Choosing to live on campus means more than just a place to sleep. It means meals shared in the common kitchen spaces, shared laundry days and neighbours who get it because they’re going through it too.

Forgot to bring something when you moved in? Check out the free library of housewares, grocery items and clothing for students living in tul’al’txw, located in the lobby.

Fall term starts soon and if you haven't prepped yourself, here's your nudge.

1. Order your textbooks online. Have them shipped to you or pick-up at one of our campus book lockers.

2. Double-check what courses you're registered for and what dates/times classes are.

3. Attend an Orientation event. This is a great way to see the campus, meet other students and learn about services and supports that are available to you as a student. Visit nic.bc.ca/events for details.

4. Don't forget about important deadlines, such as paying your tuition, waitlists closing, STAT holidays and campus closures or even exam schedules. You can find this info on our Academic Calendar (visit our website).

5. Get excited! Whether you're about to step into a new chapter in life or you're continuing towards completing your current one, there's so much to be excited for. We're here to cheer you on!

North Island College’s Centre for Applied Research, Technology and Innovation (CARTI) researchers are inviting the community to dive into the fascinating world of seaweed at a special Seaweed Film Night on June 3 at the Tidemark Theatre, presented as part of Ocean Week Campbell River.

This engaging evening will feature a curated lineup of short films celebrating the beauty, science, and cultural importance of seaweed along our coastlines. From kelp forest ecosystems to innovative research and restoration efforts, the films aim to spark curiosity and conversation about the vital role seaweed plays in ocean health and coastal communities.

In addition to the film screenings, attendees can expect a lively, festival-style atmosphere with opportunities to connect with researchers and learn about the variety of different seaweed locally and its various roles in the ecosystem, as well as enjoy free popcorn with special popcorn seasonings designed by Chef Jonathan Frazier from NIC’s Culinary program and more.
