The shovels are in the dirt!

Today marks the start of construction on the Advanced Skills Centre, a 625,000-square-foot investment in the future of skilled trades and technology education in Alberta.

As the largest capital project in NAIT's history, the Advanced Skills Centre will create modern labs, classrooms, and workspaces designed to support the next generation of talent across construction, energy, manufacturing and transportation programs.

Thank you to everyone who attended, including Andrew Knack, and the many partners who helped move this project from concept to construction, including the Honourable Myles McDougall, our design partners at GEC Architecture and DIALOG, and our construction partner, PCL Construction.

We're excited to see this vision reshape our campus.

A new season. New faces. Another national championship.

After a standout 2025-26 season, the NAIT Ooks are gearing up for another exciting year of competition, and hopefully, championship moments.

This fall, we welcome a new men's hockey head coach, bring a major Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference cross-country race back to NAIT, and host the CCAA - ACSC men's soccer national championship.

But success isn't just measured on the scoreboard. Last year, Ooks student-athletes achieved an impressive 3.3 GPA and nine earned CCAA Academic All-Canadian honours.

Whether you're cheering from the stands or following along online, there's plenty to look forward to this season.

It's been 10 years since the Feltham Centre (CAT) building opened its doors to the public! From a blank canvas to one of our most vibrant spaces on campus.

Fast facts about CAT:
- 45 labs and advanced simulation environments, including the NAIT Centre for Advanced Medical Simulation
- the
- 57 classrooms
- a 135-seat lecture theatre
- over 1,065 sq. m. (11,500 sq. ft.) of student seating, including 11 student lounges, and tutoring and meeting rooms
- a computer commons with desktop computers for student use

Welcome to a new school year at NAIT.

Whether you’re returning to campus or joining us for the first time, I’m glad you’re a part of our community. This is one of my favourite times of the year. The hallways fill up, classes begin, new friendships start and campus has new life.

I know the start of a year can feel exciting, overwhelming or maybe a bit of both. There's a lot ahead of us.

This year, there will be lot of change around campus. We’re building the Advanced Skills Centre, the largest expansion in NAIT’s history, and reimagining the South Lobby as a new student services hub.

We’re also launching the Student Experience Action Plan and a new Academic Advising model to help support students' education, career planning and campus experience.

I’m excited for the year ahead, and I’m excited to meet all of the new NAIT students.

If you see me in the hallways, please say hello. I’d love to hear how your NAIT journey is going and what we can do to help make it even better.
