The Bacchus Players is proud to present three selections from Mark Ravenhill's Shoot/ Get Treasure/ Repeat, an epic cycle of sixteen plays exploring the personal and political effects of war and terrorism on modern life. Although this topic is sometimes difficult to confront, it is especially relevant in light of recent events, both abroad and close to home.

The plays that make up Shoot/Get Treasure/Repeat began life at the 2007 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, winning a Fringe First award, and the Jack TinkerSpirit of the Fringe award. They form a collage of very different scenes, with each taking its title from a classic work.

The cycle of plays that comprise Shoot/Get Treasure/Repeat were written to be performed as either ensemble pieces or stand-alone scenes. The Bacchus Players will present three plays from the cycle, "Women of Troy"; "Crime and Punishment"; and "Yesterday, An Incident Occurred".

Christopher Marlowe’s legendary play “The Tragical History of Dr. Faustus” will be featured at Heritage College in Gatineau from April 28 to 31. Performances begin at 7:00 each evening in the Heritage College Auditorium, located at 325 boul. Cité des Jeunes in Gatineau. Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for all others. For more information, please call 819-778-2270.

Mounted by the College’s acclaimed and ambitious drama club, Marlowe’s timeless “Faustus” is a powerful morality play about a learned man who sells his soul to the devil for 24 years of power, prestige, and wealth. As we might imagine with such bargains, things do not end well for poor Faustus.

First performed in 1592, and widely-regarded as Marlowe’s masterwork, “The Tragical History of Dr. Faustus” remains one of the most iconic and powerful tales ever created, cautioning against the timeless temptations of ambition, seduction, and greed.

Christopher Marlowe
A contemporary and colleague of Shakespeare, Christopher Marlowe was one of the foremost dramatists, poets, and translators of the Elizabethan era. Variously described as a genius and a goon, a heretic and a homosexual, a spy and a seducer, Marlowe’s plays and poetry continue to be staged and studied around the world.
